Best bang for buck wax on the market?

Wax is for tinkering around with show cars. If you want low cost and durability, get a sealant like Opti-seal.

Even though he asked "what wax", I feel inclined to say the exact same thing. The days of waxing a daily driver are long past, I think. Show cars are obviously a different story. I waxed my pop's '76 Imperial 1 year ago, but it's been outside twice since.

Reload or WetCoat are also good spray sealants that surpass wax in nearly every category.

Don't listen to these two coating snobs, millions of people still use and love wax. Every waxing thread always has a couple guys that just have to come in and tell you how great thier coatings are. Never fails

So with all the liquid waxes, you just spray on and wipe off with microfiber, that's it? Wouldn't that take forever on an SUV-size vehicle? I've seen people here promoting machine-waxing instead.

I use a DA with Black finishing pad for applying wax on my boat and cars. Low speed, minimal product. It takes only 10 min to apply, and only a few to wipe off. Applying by machine you can really dial back the product making it super easy to remove.

There are like 3 people that replied that seem to be looking for the same answer ?

I don't think a wax is a problem most are synthetic. A cleaner wax would work as well.

Look at the dodo juice line. Supernatural or any of the hard waxes. The soft are indeed more show type waxes that won't have the durability

Meguiars Ultimate Fast Finish
For just $10/$11 per bottle, its worth trying imho.

I used to do my vehicles with #845 but now I use UFF.
The UFF is much easier and faster to apply than the #845.
And The UFF also lasts much longer than the #845.
I also believe the UFF attracts less dust than #845. I have not gone back to the Collinite since.

Just spray the UFF (aerosol) onto a mf towel or applicator and wipe the vehicle down. use a clean towel and do a quick buff to bring it to a gloss. Let it cure for a bit, and you're good to go.

I can do my full size crew-cab truck in about 15 minutes.

No...You don't usually spray on
liquid Waxes: that's mostly done
with Waxes that come in spray form.

And...
I've found that Liquid Waxes can
be applied via machine/pad a lot
easier than with most paste Waxes.

Agree. A modern wax with synthetics is what I prefer for topping. 476 is my choice but there are many others. On top of my topping is a quick detailer (Optimum, V7 or whatever) with wax which adds at least a week or two if super slickness.

Original OP didn't indicate, but perhaps he isn't aware other LSP's exist, or perhaps he does and prefers to use a wax. We don't know, but I would not say that waxing a car is a thing of the past, including a daily driver. A well maintained daily driver takes no more than 30 mins. to wax with newer WOWO waxes. I wax our personal cars at least 6-8 times per year; partly because I enjoy it (stress relief) and because I like the look of it vs. a more sterile product. I do however (1-2 times a year) apply a good sealant (e.g. Blackfire) and top it with wax as the LSP.

...but yes there are more durable options in modern sealants and coatings for those who do not find the same enjoyment in "waxing" their cars.

Scott,

You seem to be doing what I intend to do. How often do you clay?

Wax will never die.

OP. Look into Sonax Carnauba. Used it for years I love it. It lasts a while. Nice gloss.

If you want something synthetic get Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant.

But guys come on. Wax will never die. Waxing your car is like Apple Pie. Its Americana. Yes coatings are cool, my car is coated, but like .05% of the masses know what the hell a car coating is. Wax will never die.

I've been on here since Feb of 2012 and as far as "wax" goes its pretty simple, Collinite #476S or Duragloss #111:dblthumb2:

Just curious:
Are you still on the quest, for the best
bang-for-the-buck, (Finishing) "Wax"...
and/or: Hybrid-Wax/Sealant; Sealant?

Bob

Bob,

I'm leaning towards your recommendation of just putting a second coat of wolfgang sealant on and seeing how that goes first. Still open to a finishing wax, though I'm not as concerned with price just shine and longevity.
