Best car wax

I know one guy that swears by NuFinish, and his cars look great.

It's actually really nice and holds up well longer than any carnuba. I love the wet look I get with wax but wax does not protect like nufinish or my old stand by astro shield which is no longer made due to VOC restrictions. I know it sounds ridiculous, I have bought almost every polish and carnuba flavor there is and have nearly every polish, sealer or wax at my disposal. Klasse is ok, I like to use it after compound, by machine, but nufinish and my few ounces of astro shield left are my last step.

When I use carnuba I get stains in my white paints, when I use a strong synthetic or petroleum based sealant those same stains knock off the surface with the touch of my finger. Unless you maintain a 3 coat buildup of carnuba for real protection it simply won't last. And you'd really be sick of waxing weekly.

I want to avoid doing corrective work, it seems some products do not offer enough protection to avoid repetitive corrections.

Nu Finish isagreat product for the money, I've used it many years and does give a great shine and good protection but I depend mostly in sealants to protect my cars, IMO it's a must:)

Nu Finish sure leaves you with an even finish, no steaks, even on black cars.
It's been on the market for many years for a good reason.

I smell sarcasm from the posters above you lol

Not sure if you now read the above comments, LOL! Almost thinking about getting a bottle of the liquid and trying it out...on my fiance's Mazda 6 before winter but only if I don't get around to getting Collinite #476 double coat.

It`s simple Collinite 845, easy to use lasts and lasts, wonderful protection. I did a test used 5 waxes 3 on the hood and 2 on the trunk. A week later Iwashed the car and asked 4 friends what areas were the best looking and what did they think I used to wax. no one could tell any difference and nothing looked better than anything else. I used $40 wax and all the way down to $8.

I just detailed my buddy's Mazdaspeed 3 and did the following process:

1. DG rinseless wash
2. GG clay car
3. Meg's M101
4. Re-wash w/ DG rinseless
5. DG #501/601
6. Collinite #845

Now for tests sake I didn't apply Collinite #845 on the roof because I wanted to see how the DG #501/601 will hold up. The weather is trending hot and humid, chance of rain this week, hard to tell the rest of the year but an update will folllow. I should also say I did the same thing on his wife's Scion xB sans the Meg's M101. Did that car a while ago and he says that when its dirty the shine still comes through! Both of these cars are DD's and sit outside 24/7 now, so they'll get a real test. I would say the MS3 is washed once a week and Scion xB maybe once every 2 weeks, wish they would wash them more often but for the test its probably best.

Collinite #845, for the money, is right up there with DG for "best bang for the buck" IMO. No fancy labels, no scents, no crazy names, just products that get the job done!

If you want a sample I have an almost full bottle that my dad bought lol
You're better off sticking with duragloss or collinite, trust me.

But how did they feel?

Get the paste, it's not thick almost the consistency of pudding. Wal-Mart $7

I wish astro shield was still around. Anyone have any favorites that protect over a longer period of time? And let nothing stick to the paints surface?

Whatever you used? Anything really provide long term slick finish? Even after washing?

Wow - haven't heard that name in a long time - Astro Shield! I used it for a while also and it was very good, along the lines of a very durable, glossy sealant-type of shine. That was around the time I played with Liquid Glass for a while until I met up with DuraGloss - and I still use a number of the DG products today.

Current favorite/"best" product, hmmm, that's hard to say unfortunately (wish I had an absolute favorite). DG 105 is very durable and beads and shines nicely; Blackfire is very glossy (but didn't protect my Mini Cooper S from bird dropping etching); Wolfgang has a brilliant shine; and Collonite 915 looks really good and lasts long for a carnuba. OK, I still can't say I've found the "perfect" wax...

Fun thread!
