I did a search before i posted this :dig: :dig: :dig: I couldnt find an updated thread since 2010 that was about finishing polish alone.

So my question to everyone [since im gettin to the 1/2 point of my Megs 205] and this was the backup, [to preempt some wisenheimers lol] what is your finishing polish -- clear coat paint-- and why?

Everyone please include the following parameters so we have some level of subjectivity:

1. Overall finishing quality
2. Cutting ability
3. The dreaded powder factor
4. Amount needed per 2"x2" section
5. Ease of use
6. Any additional comments, praise, or category i somehow missed.

Some direct comparisons would be GREAT!! I just want to know what everyone is into and why? Ok ok im slightly itching to try a new product, but ONLY if its better in most of the criteria listed above.

Have fun and dont tear eachother's heads off

GO!

On my soft black chevelles paint, Mezerna 85rd has always been my favorite. Does not dust and finishes better then anything I have tried. Not much cut, but I don't need much most of the time. Biggest downside for me is that it is heavy on oils which then sometimes fills defects. Plus side to this is the long working time. I am getting some HD polish this week to try out as I hear it is very good.

Menzerna SF4000 (PO 106 FA) is my favorite. Just a bit more cut than 85rd. No dust. Long working time. Works well on soft paint.

My bottle of Sonax PF just came in and I will try it out next week.

Sonax PF 4/6 will soon become your favorite finishing polish. 4500 and Ultrafina was my go to finishing polish until I used Perfect Finish.

Todd at Autopia Forum did a test with PF2500, Poorboy's World Pro Polish 2, Sonax Profiline Perfect Finish, Scholl Concepts S3 Gold High Performance Compound, BLACKFIRE SRC Compound, and Wolf's Chemicals “The Medium” One-Step Polish to see which is the best one-step polish.

Sonax PF was #1 in the "Finish" category and tied for 1st overall.

I am looking forward to trying it out next week on another stupid soft BMW jet black.

Does sonax pf have any fillers? What finishing polishes dont have fillers?

This. It removes a lot and finishes down flawless. I like it a lot more than M205.

HD Polish is insane.

I like it. I have used M205, Sonax PF, SF4000 and SF4500 and I almost like HD Polish more. Plus it smells amazing.

But, like Mike says, whatever is closest to me is what I'll use.

But most likely HD Polish on a super soft paint.

AGREE AGREE AGREE....I grab that bottle all the time...I have quite a few flavors of polishes and brands...this stuff rocks..vary the pressure depending on your pad choice..it will remove swirls and fine scratches with little risk...buy the Big Bottle !!! :dblthumb2:

Steve.

Rupes Ultra Diamond or Sonax Perfect Finish on Rupes white pad. I use two drops and one drop on the pad, respectively. Superb results every single time.

I have yet to find anything that comes close to the Meguiar's 205 Ultra Fine Polish.

It will not gum up on you.
Little dusting.
Decent work time.
Finishes down nicely.
Wipes off with only one pass.
Works well on both a rotary or DA.
3-4 small drops on a pad is capable of doing large areas then some of the other brands.
Can remove defects when using the correct pad for the job.
Can be bought over the counter in some local stores.

I just tired the Optimum Finish Polish and like it but it won't out perform the 205 except the Optimum has a longer work time.

If you never tried the 205 you must IMO.

Well, if you want the BEST, I'd have to say the Rupes' system will consistently finish well. That's my vote for the best.

After I started to use the Rupes system, my SF4500 collects dust on the shelf.

Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish, CarPro Reflect, HD Polish.

Menzerna SF4000. Decent cut and finishes down to perfection.

A lot of people are using CarPro Reflect. Haven't used it myself but look for reviews. Seems like an excellent product.

Another vote for HD Polish.
Chris, if you're going to be at Art's meet up in a couple weeks I'll bring a few for you to sample. Have HD, Sonax PF, V38, and Reflect.

Depends on the paint.

Sonax Perfect Finish
Polish Angel Esclate Lotion
Dodo Juice Lime Prime

I have, but have yet to try, Polish Angel Master Final Polish
