Ordering my first random orbital polisher and can't decide on the Lake Country pads or Griot's pads.

Recommendations?

Lake Country pads have always performed well for me. Haven't tried the Griot's pads so I can't comment on them.

I use the LC CCS 6.5 with mine and have been very pleased.

I bought the LC 5in backing plate and use LC 5.5in pads. I like it alot.

Lake County gives you more choices as far as abrasiveness and styles (CCS, HT, etc). I would think this offers more versatility and could be a better option.

Lake Country 5.5" Flat pads are my favorite to work with personally. I haven't used the Hydrotech pads yet though.

Griot only offers two pads- orange for polishing and red for wax/or sealant application. Their orange pad is much stiffer than the LC orange version. It is somewhere between the orange and yellow for cutting power. Griot as mentioned above does not offer versatility in pad selection. Hence you are restricted in the range of correction. Hope this helps.

If you can wait a bit, you might also want to consider the 6 inch Meguiars DA cutting and finishing pads...

ppl say that the 5.5 inch pads correct faster but the thinness of the DA pads combined with the power of the Griots might be just as good. Looking forward to some reviews for sure...

Thanks for the help, looks like I'm ordering the Griot's Garage random orbital polisher kit with Lake Country CCS 6.5" pads.

if you are going with a da i would stick with the 5.5 inch flats especially when correcting

Don't get 6.5 inch pads. Get the 5inch backing plate with 5.5 inch pads, much better control and corrections.

5.5" pads all the way. If you can swing it, order a couple ccs, couple flat, and a couple low profile hydro tech pads. This will allow you to figure out what you like. My personal favorites are the low profile hydro tech pads. I haven't tested out the Griot's pads yet so I can't really comment on them. I'm really curious though about their yellow scrubbing pad.
