OK, I've got the wife's old Pathfinder looking pretty good after her accident. It's been repainted (all but the roof, which is still original).

I buffed it out using a Flex 4301 and Menzerna SIP(1500), followed by Menzerna SF4500. I then put a layer of WGDGPS 3.0 on top of it.

Since we're having a sale today, do I top it with a nuba wax? Or just use the sealant? If wax, which one?

This is a daily driver. We've owned it since it was new (1989). It's garaged at night and on the weekends, but sits in the sun all day when she goes to work.

We're in GIlbert (Phoenix suburb), so summer sun is brutal. I stopped using wax on the cars long ago in favor of Liquid Glass. But, I'm not going to put Liquid Glass on anything ever again. Just a little worried about how the waxes will stand up to the desert sun.

Thanks again for all of the information on this forum.

I would top it with a wax, just because I like the look. That's a nice looking vintage Pathy. If it was me, I'd want to put Dodo Purple Haze Pro on that truck, over the sealant - or the new Blackfire Montan Wax. Collinite is likely the longest lasting and toughest wax sold here. I'm a big fan of Fuzion as well, although it may not be "tough" enough for your conditions.

I'm a Pathfinder fan as well. Here is my R50:

After 13 years, the paint is all original and to the best of my knowledge, has been kept outside all its life:

why will you never use liquid glass again ?

While the Pathfinder was getting fixed, my wife sometimes took my work car so I could take the Pathy for some of the repairs. She managed to get mine rear-ended in the same intersection :(

It's a 2008 PT Cruiser that's "Cool Vanilla". It needed a new back bumper, so the new bumper went to get painted, based on the Color Code on the door. When I got the bumper back, it was a lot whiter than the rest of the car. (There were 3 sub-colors that year, and the painter just picked the most common one, instead of asking to see the car). He was off on the color, so it's being re-painted.

But, assuming at the beginning that it was something I did, I hit the PT with Menzerna SIP1500, and discovered that it ended up a lot whiter than it started. The only thing that's been on that car was Liquid Glass. So, contrary to their marketing blurbs that say "will not yellow finish", I think that 3 times per year did yellow the finish to a degree. Since Vanilla is off-white to begin with, I hadn't really noticed that it was more yellow than it had been.

And, I've got another 1989 vintage car hiding under a cover (and up on blocks) in the garage. I lifted the cover, and sure enough, the plastic cladding on the body is quite yellow. It got 2 coats of Liquid Glass before I put it away. It's a 1989 Turbo Trans Am, AKA 20th Anniversary Pace Car Edition, with 450 miles on the clock. That car has never even been wet.

Besides, I wanted to try some new sealants and waxes.

2 votes for Collinite 915, one for Purple Haze, and an almost vote for Fuzion. No votes for just leaving it with the DGPS sealant.

Got some sample sizes on the Earth Day sale.

I already had some 915, but I added Fuzion (3oz), Purple Haze(30ml), and a sample of liquid Souveran. I ordered the 2 pack sample of Dodo Juice, the other is Light Fantastic, so I can also try the different waxes on the Vanilla PT Cruiser.

The Pathfinder will get different ones on different panels. I'll leave one with just DGPS, try another with Souveran, Fuzion, Purple Haze, Collinite Marque d'Elegance and see how they look and last.

Do the same for the PT, using Light Fantastic instead of Purple Haze.

Thanks for the help guys.

That's a nice R50 Pathfinder, too!
