Black 2007 CTS-V paint correction with Surbuf pads, by Rasky

Great job Rasky,

Seeing your post is motivating me to use those Surbuf pads my my Griots DA. I am currently working on my rear bumper and using a yellow pad with m105 and the scratches still dont come out. Also, using the 3.5" yellow pad and it takes me a while to get them to disappear. What about the purple foamed wool pads on DA? Ever used those? Thanks.

Great job, Rasky! I knew you would love those pads ;)

Did you use the KBM with them?

What a difference! :props:

Thank you!

I've never tried the PFW on a DA before but I think you will fine the Surbuf pad more effective anyway. Plus they require little to no applied pressure to be effective. meaning less work for you. :)

Just be careful buffing aggressively on plastic bumper covers! ;)

Thanks Jacob! I like them so much that I need to order more! :props:

I browsed a lot of info posted on the forums by various users before using them (prime pad, speed 6, light pressure, clean pad often....). I didn't use the aid of water or any other lubricant though.

Cheers,
Rasky

Thanks, Rasky!

If you had to guess, do you feel you could have gotten away with 2 steps using the MF system with the caddy?

Hard to say. This car had a lot of repainted areas and did not like the DA polisher, which was why I finished with the rotary. Of the cars I've tested, two did not finish down real well after the D300, but I still think they could have been cleared up after 1 more step.

Here is the worst I saw after D300 on the PCXP, Speed 6, and a 6" MF cutting pad. Had I been usign the lower speeds like Meguiar's suggest, it may have finished out a little better.

Chevy S-10, OEM paint....maybe mid 90's. I've always had trouble on these paints with DA polishers, which was I intentional tried it on this truck. D301 would not finish down free of micro marring either.

All GM paint colors, or just black?

I've only noticed it the black Cadillac and black GM trucks I've done in the last few years.

That's not to say all people will have the same results, but with my polishing style, it's what I've experienced. ;)

I don't seem to have much of an issue on these paints with diminishing abrasives on the DA though, and I know I've seen others post that they had good results with SMAT polishes on a DA with these same paints...so it could very well be my technique

Great job Rasky! I haven't used my surbuf pads yet but the results are amazing.

Interesting. I'll be curious to see what my polishing style does with the same combo on these since GM paints of that sort are the majority of what I work on.

Definitely let me know....it's not they they don't look pretty good, but VERY faint marring can be seen when I do these paints.

It may even be hard to see in these pics but there is very light micro marring after M105/M205 on the DA in the test panel.
