Blackfire Crystal Seal - The 11 Minute Paint Sealant

fwiw, experimented with two coats today and the paint really looks fantastic. Per Todd Helm's recommendation, I waited 2 hrs between applications. IMO, definitely "glossier look" then just one coat; which is very hard to achieve with white paint. Hey Nick, try two coats-you'll like it. haha

let's see some pictures:hungry::hungry::hungry:

I used this on my Iforged Wheels this weekend, and had to wash the car due to a mechanics over zealous handprints. Its really cool to see the beading, its clearly hydrophobic.

Here's what two coats of BFCS looks like on a 2005 TSX - sorry Nick but u have to try adding that second coat. This stuff is really a "wow" product IMHO.

ok it's been 3 months since i applied this stuff and rims have not been washed since. it's been thru 3 months of florida rain storms(water mixed with sand). no scratches on the finish at all. the dirt washed of nice and smooth. it's kinda hard to get good pics in this bright a$$ sun but i tried my best.

Nice before and after pics!
Questions - How difficult/easy was it to get the rims clean?
How long did it take to clean each rim?

Thanks for the pics!

the difficulty was in reaching the hard spots. it would have been easier to just remove all 4 and clean them that way. the dirt itself came of with ease. it's like the dirt just couldn't stick.

it took about 5-6 minutes per rim on the first pass because i had to reach all the way thru to the back and that was where the majority of the dirt was built up.

the 2nd pass, cleaning the face(spokes) took about 1 minute each. drying was so easy because the water just sheeted of.

i'm so glad i bought this stuff. can't wait to put it on the car itself.

Paint looks amazing, but what prep did you do before doing the spray sealant? I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see whipping out a bottle and spending 11 minutes and having it look THAT good. These looks like there was hours of cleaning and prep work before the sealant was applied. I have to say, fantastic job!

Hey LP, of course you're right. There needs to be some heavy lifting before you can achieve that kind of gloss & shine. Here's what I did prior to applying the two coats of BFCS

Washed with 2x the dilution rate of Ultima Car Shampoo
Decon with P21s TAW - agitated lightly into paint and then allowed to sit for 10 minutes.
Decon with IronX - agitated lightly into paint and then allowed to sit for 10 minutes.
Used foam gun as a final wash & rinse

Clayed the entire car
LC HT Tangerine pad with Klasse AIO - this allowed the paint to finally pass the bag test.
Tangerine pad with Meg Ultimate Compound
Tangerine pad with Meg #205
Menzerna Top Inspection wipe down
Blackfire Crystal Seal (do they make other sealants????)
Wait two hours, apply second coat of BFCS

Yes it was a lot of work but I enjoyed the entire process. Moving forward, as long as I don't give the keys to the kids, it will be super easy to maintain.

addy- I knew that car was that beautiful for a reason. The hard work you put in shows. Thank you very much for the run down. I'm still in the learning process with all these new products. I'm used to the off the shelf stuff with a rotary occasionally. I'm looking for better professional quality results from now on. Mainly what you did!! Thanks again.

LP your quite welcome. Everyone starts out as a newbie and the forum is a great place to expand your knowledge base. If your willing to devote the time, it will repay in exponentially. My advise to you is focus on learning technique that will enhance the final result as opposed to diving into the world of products. There are so many outstanding products and to my eye, most of the time I cannot see a difference between two top shelf products from different manufacturers. Ask 5 people which sealant they like and you'll get 8 different answers. Actually it's probably hard to buy a "bad" product.

Plenty of threads of which is "the best of" and quickly you'll notice a consensus with one or two products constantly being mentioned. Look at the various photos from Mike P's Thursday night garage details and you'll quickly notice he gets great results every time using an entirely different product line - guess that's my case in point. Yeah the products are all good but it's his technique that makes the real difference. Buy small quantities to start so you can get a sense of what you personally really like - then go for the large quantity once you've identified your favorites.

And most of all have fun with the process. Clearly there is no end to expanding my knowledge and that there is always something new to learn - for me that's the fun of it. And teasing Nick of course. haha.

It's funny you mention Thursday night's episode, I actually watched it from beginning to end. Once I find a video from Mike, I can't help but watch the whole thing. It's amazing the amount of knowledge he has. I say funny because I wondered the same thing too about how he can produce excellent show car results with no matter what he uses (makes me wonder how much different they all really are.) Obviously he is just THAT good! I understand there are all different paints, thicknesses, and jobs that need to be performed. I'd love to see what he could do for my 2007 Altima or atleast help me with it. lol!

I am 6 months into the CS experience and will use nothing but CS from now on.It is just so damn easy. Back in march I clayed, spread Backfire Total Polish and seal with a GG6 and black pad. I then put on 2 coats of CS an hour apart. I just put on another coat of CS yesterday after a wash and it's better than the day I picked the car up. So easy , so good.

Think you'll have to wait a long time to get Mike to help you out since he's got a thing for American Muscle Cars - doesn't like to deviate from that. haha. Come on Mike, this are some great German & Japanese Marques out there waiting for you to show a little love. lolol

Haha, wishful thinking I guess. If I ever get the 69 Camaro I want to build I'll have to look him up. :xyxthumbs: Thank you again for ALL of your help.

And yes Nick, please post pictures. I just treated my DD to BFCS and I can't believe how it looks. I'm curious to know how this stuff looks topped with a Carnuba like Collinite. I have it, but don't want to ruin what I have going right now. I've seen it apparently gives it a "warm" look but not sure what the difference would be like.
