This was a quick job, with an intermission due to rain. got started late, and time was limited due to travel plans, so i did not take pictures along the way (i should probably start doing that) The paint has been well taken care of and was not terribly swirled, so i went pretty light on the correction.

Day 1:
-Wash with 2 bucket system
-iron-x
-Wash with 2 bucket system
-Clay (i use ONR diluted per label as clay lubricant)
-10 hours of intermittent rain/thunderstorms

Day 2:
-ONR quick wash
-Menzerna SI 1500 with LC Hybrid Orange pad on 6 inch Griot's DA and also Griot's 3 inch LC hydrotech tangerine
-Menzerna Power Lock sealant applied with Griot's 3 inch and LC hydrotech crimson

(can you tell i'm a fan of menzerna products?)

If i had more time, i would have hit it with a finishing polish, and also a couple random spots with the rotary. It was more important to just get some protection on the paint to preserve what had been done so next time i see the car i could pick up where i left off.

Beautiful work on that blue Bimmer Larry!

I'm a Menzerna nut as well!

Military guys sure do love their BMW's. (this one was brought back from Rota, Spain by a Navy guy)

Have you noticed orange peel on BMW's before? done anything to remove it?

We sure do! They sell like hot cakes here in Europe. We also get special military pricing.

I have noticed it. They all have it. I have not done anything about it but plan to level it a bit when I return home.

I'm just scared to see how thin the paint is. It seems if you flattened it out it might go all the way through the clear/color coat.

These are pictures from another thread of mine when I Opti Coated this silver 3 series. This paint was thicker than what's on my 2 BMW's.

I have measured the paint on my jet black 3 series and it was averaging around 3.6 to 3.8 mils. Unfortunately I don't have pictures from these readings. As my paint is rather thin I wouldn't dare go any more aggressive than 3000 grit paper to help level the peel.
