This is my current project I am working on! I had done this car about 2-3 years ago and brought it to a flawless condition. Now, its been through "PAINT HELL". I took her once to a car wash since I was in a rush and I really had no time to do it myself. They hand washed it and applied a wax by machine.... Needless to say, they used a dirty pad and the person using the rotary did not know what he was doing!! He put alot of scratches into my trunk! Also, when I got the car back, the interior had pieces hanging and my steering wheel was all scratched up :/. Another issue I had was There was wax residue every where. It was literally CAKED ON! I spent 3 hours trying to get it all out with a 5 gal bucket with dawn soap and apc plus, tooth brush, and a tooth pick. yeah.... The swirls, marring, scratches these people caused was ridiculous. I WANT EVERYONE TO USE THIS THREAD AS A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHAT A CAR WASH WILL DO TO YOUR CAR OR A CUSTOMERS CAR! now lets move on to some photos

the scratches that the car wash put in had to be wetsanded. I used 2500 grit paper because I dont know hwo much they tried to remove the scratches they put in there, there were signs on the paint that they tried to remove them. There fore still having to compound and polish after sanding I didnt want to risk burning through. some of the scratches came out some of them I just made look better!

Looking good, beware the hacks at the wash people don't believe me when I tell them it only take one trip

wow, and to think they charge to put scratches on your car:P that much wax residue is really unacceptable, especially on your grill. they obviously didnt tape anything off.

You weren't joking, Joel!!! They HACKED your car! WOW!!

Looks as though you're already conquering it. :props:

Was that the first time using the MF system?

Id rather show up to a dirty car to where ever im going or roll around in a dirty car than taking it somewhere. I really dont trust any place around here and id rather do myself when i have free time.

I will call them tomorrow and tell them there cust service is a shame maybe ill land another 2 free pads haha!

great work. that is a beautiful ride you have there sir.
my car may be a piece of #### eco class, but it'll never suffer the injustice that is one of those car wash places and it's mindless minions who can't even dry their own hands properly.

thanks man. Its taking longer than expected to finish because I have a 7 week old baby so taking care of him and trying to work isnt easy! I am looking forward to finishing her up. Her interior is flawless I will get some pics up of her. I drive around in a hoopty instead of the M lol. I put 50k miles in a yr and a half on her then called it quits!

Dang!!!! They need to be closed down!!!!! I have a 323i sitting in my shop right now that was hacked like that and prayerfully I will be able t get it looking good again... My Z3 was like that when I bought it... Now she is sexy and trim! Keep up the good work on that M3 man! (BTW I love the verse in your sig!)

I really think there should be some sort of Governing body that would hand out License's to properly trained individuals that use Rotary Polishers. What a shame.

AGREED!

Here are some photos after the correction with NO LSP ADDED AFTER A WASH WITH APC AND DAWN SOAP TO REMOVE ALL POLISHING OILS!! LSP will be going on tomorrow. The process was m105 with megs mf cutting disc on DA I had to do to passes over every panel to actually get the correction I was looking for. It was then followed up by po106fa on a white LC pad. I did do some wetsanding on some spots of the car including the trunk to make those scratches look better. Tomorrow I will add WGDG, let it cure, then add WG FUZION. On exterior trim I will be using UTTG and opti bond on tires.
