Boiled linting MF...

I always wash mine MF`s in the washer, at 90c. And they are still nice...

Im washing at 40C with milo, it says 90F on the washing instruction not C....

Will try that next time. Haven`t had problems yet.

They get clean at 40c and milo, if they are made with a lining around it, that can shrink if you wash it in too hot water, but if it have worked for you at 90c that shouldnt be a problem. but you will have them longer if you wash them in 40c and no dryer.

No, milo for wool and silk, dont use softner on them, they dont like that. And "sommer frisk" is for girls......he he

aha. yeah. I read that softner was not so good. I will try it ;) haha, "sommer frisk" is sweet! lol

wow... I did not understand a single thing u guys said for this entire page...Crazy dudes from norway...haha

You dident? :p Its all on english. lol. Truls are the crazy one, I am just nice! hahahah

I have talked to several towel manufacturers and most resellers in US on this hot topic. Almost all suggest that linting is only due to those not storing their towels properly and allowing to pull lint from other laundry and sources such as not cleaning out dryer properly after use.

The idea that boiling showed some color or scent, would imply that the products you are using to wash these towels is wrong or you are using far too much. All I can offer to date, is keeping my towels segregated from all other laundry from start to finish, and using Microrestore or Pinnacles Rejuvinator as the only two cleaners to date, I have not a single problem with any towel. (SOFTNERS DAMAGE ALL TOWELS ABILITY TO HOLD WATER AND NOT STREAK)

I do have a couple older towels that appear to be shedding a bit. It is however obvious the shedding is same color as towel and they are finally giving up after multiple years of use. Two are the original mid green Pinnacle kit towels, and one is a drying towel from Pakshak from original WW design. They look ragged, almost like how a tshirt starts to pilfer a small bit.

Yeh thats how I know its the towels, and not lint picked up. The tiny strands I see are from the microfiber. Especially if wiped across glass, the sun reflecting really makes it stand out, used almost all my towels this way to test which were linting (leaving strands) or not.

Still curious as to how boiling stops Micro's from shedding strands? Everyone seems to say it works but never tried it myself.

I've been using Micro-restore, and like Killr, I wash separate from all other laundry and dry on low. I'm about out of Micro-Restore. Anyone have comments on it vs. the Pinnacle Rejuvinator? The Pinnacle product is so much more expensive. But if it is better, I'd buy it.

It seems by boiling the mf any build up gets removed. I wonder if the build up is causing some of the fibers to become too rigid and allowing them to break easier appearing as lint. By releasing the build up the fibers return to their original softer state and don't lint. Just a thought.

A1Monkey how where you washing the MF's before you boiled them. What cleaning product were you using and what temp. Seems to me Killr has a point. If you boied them and the water turned soapy or discolored, something was trapped in the towel. Just curious.

I have been boiling Towels since Leo of DFT explained to me a while back that it will help release any wax or sealants that will not get removed during a wash...

The trick is to make sure you have 3-4 inches of water above the towels so the scum floats to the top and you do not recontaminate the towels...pour the water off first after boiling ..if you pull the towels out with the scum on top you just recontaminate them....

This works great on drying towels that seem to loose their absorbency properties....

Also works good on towels used for spray sealants and spray waxes...you may see no streaking when you did before....

Just add a squirt of soap to the water....add towels and then launder them with just a vinegar rinse after after boiling..and your towels are just like new again....

boiling seems to release any loose fibers also making the towels lintless...

I have always treated my towels very well. I have had them for 2 years, and I didnt get serious about detailing until about a year ago. I always washed the towels apart from ther laundry, and I always cleaned the lint screen. I do not use mirco restore detergent though. And I washed them in cold water, with extra rinse on.
I didnt post this to criticize cobra towels, it seemed that alot of people were having this problem with other towel manufactures too. The idea of boiling a MF towel was braught up in a early topic, and I wanted to try it out. I suppose that if I used micro-restore this might not have happened. I guess boiling is just an easy way to get your LINTING towel back on track.

The vinegar deal also seems to be an area of discontention. Almost all garmet and clothing manufacturers warn that vinegar when used in washing has an almost bleaching effect. It can remove color and also break down the fibers in cotton, polyester and other materials.

I find Microrestore and Rejuvinator to be equally rewarding, it just depends on where I am ordering and current sale price. (between Pinnacle site and AG site)

I've both MicroRestore and Pinnacle Rejuvenator. Pinnacle was a bonus item that came with something I had ordered. Tried both and don't really see any difference between the 2 in cleaning abilities. Both work fine. I'll keep ordering MicroRestore because it's cheaper.
