Books

My son slipped this into the suitcase before I went overseas:

A surprisingly fun read, even if you're not a fan of the subject (DNA). Highly recommended!

I recently finished 2666 by Roberto Bolaño, and will start Maddaddam by Margaret Atwood when I have time.

The Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. I think all the volumes are like 4,000 pages.

If you want a quick read to start off Solzhenitsyn, I recommend One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich. Gripping.

If you like biographies, the autobiography Witness by Whittaker Chambers tops my list.

An interesting history book about the USS Pueblo..."Act of War" by Jack Cheevers.

Came out last summer and REALLY answers a lot of questions about the capture.

I agree. I've read them all. Cancer Ward is good as well, albeit a bit longer.

Love that guy.

I'm currently reading "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olsen. Pretty interesting so far.

That is why I bought CDR's to listen to audiobooks as I drive... :D

I've seen the movie plenty of times, but this will be the first time I go through the book. Might even get an MP3 player and listen to books as I detail.

A couple more series...

Kingkiller Chronicles - Patrick Rothfuss - Book 1 is Name of the Wind and Book 2 is Wise Man's Fear...Book 3 Doors of Stone will be out next year (hopefully). This series so far is one of the most well written I have ever read. You will go crazy trying to figure out all the layers to this story. I can not recommend it enough.

Wheel of Time - Robert Jordan - 14 books - drags quite a bit in books 7-10 but picks back up after that. Unfortunately Robert Jordan died before he could complete the series so he had Brandon Sanderson step in to finish the last 3 books.

Death Gate Cycle - Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman - 7 books - really good series and the books aren't gigantic like Wheel of Time and some of the Harry Potter books.

These books can keep you busy for quite a while!!!

The dark tower series by Steven King. Just finished the second book in the song of fire and ice series(game of thrones books) kinda difficult to read and keep track of all the characters. Going to give book 3 a shot on audio
