I bought a nice Dirt Devil vac about a year to a year and a half ago. The upright kind with the cartridge filter in it. Them filters ran 20 bucks a piece, and I was finding myself having to change them twice a year. I cleaned tham out good, but they still sucked, well, sucked in a bad way..... I had to replace the belt NUMEROUS times, and had to order a new roller brush...had to wait over a month because they were on back order.
Lately, the vac hasn't been sucking anything up really. Cleaned filter, new belt, new roller brush, etc.....even checked all the hoses for clogs....none...

Went out to look at cheap vacs to buy. Wife wanted a canister type. The kind that roll on the floor. We priceda cheap one at $175, Kenmore brand. Getting ready to pick it up when I spotted the Dyson Vacs.....lol

Looked at a few models, had the salesman, a good one at that, do a few demos, and I was blown away.......:bigups
The suction on those things are UNREAL. I shampoo'd my carpets about a month ago, if that.....twice. I came home and vac'd one room GOOD with my old vac, and then went over it once with the Dyson....
All I had to say was...."OMG!!!!!!!!!!! All that was in the carpet" My Wife was impressed as well.
We bought the DC14 model

Picked it up from Sears...ran a little over $400...And well worth every penny IMHO....
5 year warranty too...
I would say, if Dyson made a shop vac, I would buy it.

Just thought I'd share.....:bigups

I was intrested to see how those work, how heavy is it?

Doesn't weigh as much as my old one. And I will tell you honestly, I will never buy anything but Dyson now....The power is crazy....and it is SUPER quiet. My old one sounded like a friggen lawn mower compared to it.

I would use it when my baby is sleeping.....that is quiet..

DAMN my moms looking for a new vac and i told her to look into this one and she like orac (Sp?) becasue there light

We had one of those. Worked great, until the plastic handle broke off. That sucked, but in the bad way!!! I have a Hoover now and love it.

Can anyone recommend a decent Vac that's not too expensive for a 650 sq. ft. Apartment?

Hoover baby!!! Not too expensive and does the job great!

How long did you have it? I know they have a 5 year warranty, not covered?

We got it for free, so I'm sure a warranty did not apply!

I went over 2 rooms that I vac'd with my old vacuum. I was disgusted at what it picked up. I thought the carpets were clean....wrong..... It gets DEEEEP down and pulles up some gunk, I will say that.
I took pics....lol Upload them in a minute...

OK, I went over 2 rooms with my old vac. picked up everything visable. Looked good to me. Then I went over the carpet with the Dyson...
Here is what it picked up......
(I was disgusted. I do not live like a slob, and the house is always clean. This was deep down in the carpet.)
Sorry for the poor quality pics.....

My friend bought one this past fall. I was at his house when he opened the box, and i was making fun of him for spend over $400 on a vaccum. Than he told me about the warranty and he used it and I shut up. I was impressed with it. No point in buying a cheap vaccum that will crap out in a year or two and not do that good of a job. Well worth the investment.

I've been very pleased with ours so far. Seems to have fantastic cleaning power.

Nice pick up on the dyson. The misses owns a house cleaning company and the only thing she uses are dyson for houses with dogs and oreck for houses without.
She said that the oreck she bought has a 21 year warranty. Grated it cost $750 but well worth it...it came with a canister vac, an iron, and 21 free annual tunes up.

Thats nice but how does is have all the things needed to vacuum a car?

Does it work on floors without carpet? We have replaced every floor with carpet in our house except one. We have bamboo, cork, and stained concrete. All still need to be cleaned, but the vacuum doesn't work so well. I want to get one with tools for vacuuming the furniture and hard to reach places.

Then dyson is the vacuum you want...it works very well on floors w/o carpet come with(or you can buy extra) attachments and I beleive it is a 15 foot hose attached permently to the vac.

For a small area there is one called the "Shark" that a lot of people are raving about. It looks like a little minature Dyson. We bought one at Bed, Bath, Beyond for approx. $79.
We've got the Hoover but the filters are getting harder and harder to find the older it gets. We definitly want to make the same Dyson you got our next vacuum. Congrats on your buy.
