Brand new seat leather - What product would you use to protect it?

Are you familiar with various different coatings used on coated leather?
From my personal experience, I know for certain there are differences,
but I cannot find any good information on what they are or how to treat specific types of automotive leather coatings.

OK...Let's stop all of the guesswork...Why not go to the experts?

I really wasn't looking for recommendations though.
I wanted to know what variety of products people used/trusted
to protect their own personal coated leather.

Seems a little contradictory to me...:dunno:
Previously I listed two companies products...
LeatherMaster's and LTT Leather Care both have excellent products.

I didn't say I recommended them then; and I suppose I shouldn't recommend them now either. :D

discuss simply protection. Protection that actually works for people.
Please contact the folks I listed above. I have.

And although they've been excellent resources...
I think I probably shouldn't recommend them. :D

Oh I have read everything from Judy and Roger. They both gave me a headache. I found 6 year old posts from Judy even in me recent research.

But back to the thread topic, assuming you have leather seats, what do you apply, if anything, to protect (not condition, not restore, not clean, but protect) your personal leather seats?

Regardless...
They are among the few experts that have responded to AGO forum members' leather-questions.

Being that I also do not believe in conditioning the protected/coated-leather cabin appointments...
I can understand your "hell bent to leather" reasoning for wanting to know what leather-protection-products others use.

However...
I firmly believe that these leathers must be cleaned every so often.
That's why my product choices should have stated/included the "kits" from LeatherMasters and/or LTT.
'Why cheese-out'...I say!

Disclaimer:
"LM & LTT"-products (purchased individually; or: any "kits"), as such,
are not being listed above as to be deemed: Recommendations.

Hi guys…sorry to hijack this thread, it's just that I was hoping that someone here at AG can help me make my decision as to which Leather Cleaner & Protectant to get for my 13' Rav4 with Black Softex Leather Seats?

I've only been using a cleaner/conditioner until recently when I read about the differences between conditioners and protectants.

So, Here is a write up about Softex Leather…

"Softex is a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). What makes Softex unique is its high breathability and thermal quality. It actually runs cooler because it reflects infrared rays, which is a primary reason for seat-cover heat absorption. In testing, Softex can run up to 10°C (18°F) cooler than other seating materials. The thermal effect is from within the polyurethane layer itself, not a surface treatment.

Although Softex releases moisture more quickly, so that in effect it dries faster, the material's characteristics are such that, unlike vinyl, it is highly resistant to dry-cracking, according to Toyota. Softex also reportedly has good strength-to-weight and surpasses natural leather in seam fatigue, abrasion, and scratching tests.

Softex, like other artificial leathers, is more resistant to absorbing dirt than natural leather and can more readily be cleaned".

So, I've been reading up about LTT & LM lately and was wondering if one (or both) of these products will be a good choice for the type of leather seats I have in my vehicle…

Any tips or feedback is much appreciated.
Thank to all in advance!
