I'm a weekend warrior... Enjoy doing cars on the weekend once in awhile and maintaining my own car. I am not a professional, but let me say I was thoroughly impressed with the rupes systems this past weekend. I took a gamble last week and pulled the trigger on all the rupes polishes and pads to match the Rupes 21LHR. I read good reviews on their mf pads as well so I pulled the trigger on them too. In the 2 plus years I've even detailing as a weekend warrior, I have never enjoyed detailing so much-- and this is on audi clear (hard as a rock)!! The machine is so smooth with their pads it's unbelievable! And their zephyr course with the blue mf is just a dream to work with although I cannot attest to the finishing abilities due to working on a white vehicle. Paired up with the yellow mf pad matching polishing results were FANTASTIC and EASY. I put all my other pads in the closet, won't be using them anymore!!

Glad to hear you had great results. I've always wanted to try the rupes system but I use so many pads the price has always scared me off.

I love how my RUPES polishers perform, but their cords SUCK and so do their backing plates. I expect more for the $ I spent on these machines

I haven't had a problem with their backing plates or chords yet. I've owned the polisher for a year now but just tried the pads/polishes.

The prices actually aren't too expensive. If someone wanted to try the system they can buy the yellow and blue mf pads for $14 a set and the zephyr course and polish 8oz for $28. So all in $55 or so. Is it more expensive than other polishes/pads? Yes, but I think they have more than made up that price difference with the amount of R&D they put into this system to make it so easy and enjoyable to get a fantastic finish with little to no effort!

Have you tried using microfiber pads? If you haven't you should IMO

The meguiars? I have and every one of them deformed on me. To be honest, probably user error on my part. I do this for fun, so in my case I'd rather spend a couple extra bucks for rupes and have a good time doing it than get frustrated. I have had fantastic results with M101 and mf pads and fg400 with mf pads. The rupes system was the best $100 i spent in detailing because now I can enjoy it like i used to when I first started :dblthumb2:

If you are happy that's all that matters :buffing:

I have the Rupes 6" Yellow pad, and i did like the pad very much along with Sonax Perfect Finish.
However i have never used the Rupes polish itself.....

The pads are super expensive.... the few yellow pad i have was actually traded for.

Although the yellow pad works great, the pad started concaving in from the center. Now only the outer edge of the pad is still flat, while the center is caved into the center.
I am not sure what the problem is, but this pad have had LIMITED amount of usage.

Only used once... how fast were you spinning? I never bumped past 3 and removed 90% of defects (few rids that were pretty deep).

I own a LHR15, I often utilize speed 5-6 for correction.
Even if i am using a POLISH instead of compound, my speed is around 4.

I read Mike Phillips article and he recommended speed settin 3, so thats what I went with. 5-6 might create too much heat....

Do the washer mod! Helps a lot!!

I only like using Meg's and Optimum MF pads on the Rupes. They handle curves with ease. I use my 3401 with foam.

I'm thinking about it. Wish there was a predone washer to put in and try. I'm not that comfortable doing it unless it's cut to size.

What kind of backing plate you use? I have a 7424 I always wanted to know whats more better the Rupes or the 7424
