This is a rookie question. Is it ok to machine buff a car that was waxed a couple of weeks ago?

Feed back please

Are you talking about a machine polish? It will strip off the wax which will have to be reapplied.

Already have 3 coats of carnuba wax applied in a month.

I'm trying to see if I can get a good gloss buffing with the existing coats.

I have a GG6" and will use MF bonnets to buff.

Good or bad idea?

I don't know why im on autogeek right now..lol but i didnt know bonnets polished paint? Somebody help me and the op. You must use foam polishing pads to achieve a higher gloss. All that wax you have on your car doesn't mean much really. After machine polishing, always reapply the wax because you will remove it when you polish the paint. Just put one or two coats on at the most after machine polishing because layers of wax won't give you that much of a better gloss, it will help you waste product though. I think(correct me if wrong) bonnets are used to fit on top of a pad to remove dried wax, not polish paint. Get foam pads; a nice black or white flat pad from lake country or a hydro tech tangerine pad. Good luck.

OK, I understand where you're going. Your idea is to buff now in hopes of obtaining more gloss..My answer would be no, I wouldn't do it.

If you intend to buff the wax after application and the product has hazed, then buffing with a microfiber bonnet would only be done at this time. Waiting a day or a week allows dust and dirt to accumulate and even through you'll wash it it's possible that some dirt could be stuck to the paint which will actually act as an abrasive imparting damage to the finish.
