Burned the edge of my paint with a DA. *PIC*

Thats why i always try to tape around all the edges so this doesn't happen but lucky for you it was your personal and and not to bad.

Serves as a reminder to all of us just how quickly it can happen. Thanks for the share.

I know this thread's old but I have a question that I cannot find an answer to. I also have a small burnt edge from a detailer working on my car before I bought it.

It's close to the rear bumper and hardly noticeable but I would like to know if I need to treat it somehow to prevent long term damage?

Basically, does that burnt area need to be touched up to protect it? It's not down to the metal but down to the primer so metal is not exposed. I'm just worried that maybe a few years down the line that particular area may spread?

someone that does pin striping by hand could make that just like new with a very steady hand using their special brushes.

Corvettes are notorious for having sharp edges that burn very easily. I look over them very carefully before I start working on them. Here are some pic I took on a C5 I did a couple weeks ago to document the burns prior to working on the car. I use tape to give the camera something to focus on. Some may be a little hard to see as the burns are white and the light on the edges makes it hard to see.

Body shop hack job.....

As Mike says, use some touch up paint and no one will know, and you'll be adding some protection instead of leaving it exposed.

Mark, my Regal has edges like that, but far...far worse (can be seen from 10 feet away), and it's never seen a buffer of any kind yet. The paint is simply flaking off at the edges. I'm even worried about taping the edges with green automotive tape. I'm thinking plane ol' blue painters tape will be best. It really stinks to see this sort of thing.

I use to have vent visors on my 00 Silverado. I took them off and was left with some discoloration around where the installation tape was. I used a little MG Ultimate compound and it did miracles. Then it got me to thinking...maybe a DA polisher and Megs MF system would do wonders for my truck.

After seeing your pics, I can tell that I would still need to be cautious around the edges.

Thanks for the pics and sorry about your paint.
