california duster question

I like my CD, works like a champ IF you have a very, very light touch. And my MB is a daily driver.

well i do have this towel i bought from walmart that is the softest i've ever held called "platinum series." the charcoal side is for dusting (way soft!) and the white side is for wiping and using detailer. i can always use that. when i had the fake california duster with the purple handle, that didn't leave streaks after it started getting dirty. but i see guys at shows using the duster with the wooden handle all the time and on dark cars and their rides are flawless. just thought i'd ask if i can speed up the process to eliminate the marks left behind. i mean they dont go into the paint, it's just stupid to have to re-go all over the whole car with the platinum series towel i got after i literally just dusted it. mainly just for spring with the pollen, and sometimes the garage gets sawdust. miraculously still no scratches just swipe marks.

I see the duster the same way with water blades; both have degree of success, but the benefit does not out weight the risks.

Air drying tool is the better solution. Plenty of options available here and portable cordless units for when you're on the go; at car shows or simply doesn't want to mess with cords - not to mention blowing out liquids/drying the vehicle after a wash. They're worth the investment, IMO.

Where did you come up with the assumption
that I have bought or ever used D115?
For the record: that's a false assumption.

•In fact, considering that in its marketing
copy it alleges to "leave something behind"...
-I don't even take to task the promulgation of
the usage of D115 for those wanting to keep
their current LSP free from "outside influences",
as it were.

With that being said:
I find yet another one of your feeble
attempts to insult me using psychological
projection to be amusing.

If you are looking for a RW that
leaves some protection behind...

Then I'll suggest:
Meguiar's Rinse Free Express Wash & Wax (D115).

Bob

Not really marketed as a Rinseless wash, that is, there are no directions on the container for using it as a Rinseless wash. I suppose one could use 1:20 ratio per the instructions but that is not very economical compared to say D114 @ 1:256 or Uber @ 1:348

•So you're saying Meguiar's product
recommendations be damned?

•I also use both D114 and D115.
-That's why I do recommend that
D115 can be used as a RW&W.

Bob

Again, you state, or at least insinuate that you use D114 and D115 as a rinseless, therefore your recommendation would appear it's based on your experience with using it.

You're obviously not speaking from your own personal experience with having used it as a rinseless wash

Are you really calling me a liar?
Are you really saying I am irresponsible?
Are you really saying I have no credibility?
Are you really saying I have no common sense?
Are you really saying I don't practice what I preach?
Are you really saying I don't use products I recommend?

smh

Every single 1 of those points has now been proven to be true. Lol. Sorry Bob, but you put your own foot in your mouth. Don't poke the bear...

You're better of doing like you usually do... Just read from labels in order to recommend products you've never even tried! Smh.
Same thing with Megs M305 Ultra Finishing Durable Glaze and Megs Paint Protect. You've never tried those 2 products either.. Yet you constantly recommend them and talk as if you have personal experience with them. Please.😏

No more foot in mouth, ok. You make it too Easy.😃

You gents should call truce.

I'm willing to call a truce. I hold no grudges nor do I even dislike anyone on this forum including Bob. I think Bob's cool in my book... But he like to instigate these little arguments sometimes. Lol.

Back to the football game.🏈

One of main reasons why I went with a blow tool.

Every other week or so the adjacent building would do yard work. After the deed the guys would go to town with their backpack blowers....category 5 dust cloud. This happened many times within hours I had just finished with a wash & wax. After a year of this routine I've had enough and armed myself with a Makita XBU02Z. How I simply smile when I hear them next door with their weed whackers. Bring it on. lol

Yikes...This is awkward....

FUNX650

Gave the "The Good Wife's" 1976 Camaro a
getting-it-ready-for-Spring rinseless wash&wax,
using Meguiar's D115 @Meguiar's recommended
dilution ratio.

D115? It handled that task quite readily; and,
She said the Camaro looked all-Jazzed-up!

Bob,

The members of this forum respect you and think you're cool. Please remember this as you attempt to shimmy down from your ivory tower.

that's what did it! i was going too hard like you generally dust the inside of a house. thx alot! i went really light barely touching the surface, and there were no swipe marks what so ever. i appreciate the tip!

of you... :nomore:}

Everyone that's been a member of the
AGO forum for a little while knows that
I'm a big Meguiar's fan boi.

So...Thanks:
1.) for falling for the easiest trick
in the book.
2.) for all of the free Meguiar's advertising
3.) for sharing my posts depicting my Meguiar's
"fan boi-ism" to the newer AGO forum members
4.) for making it easy
4.) for poking The Bear...LOL!

...you put your own foot in your mouth.
Don't poke the bear...
Two-way street.

Now...back to the thread's topic.

Just for comparison sake,
I'd like to see your CD.

Bob

How'd you do? Pfft. You just lost more respect than coming back with any reply but that... Seriously, you're supposed to be an older gent right? Are you trying to tell me you're actually This immature? You're trying to call this somekind of gag? Who's laughing with with you? Because I can't imagine anyone else finding any sort of amusement with any part of what you're trying to go with here. You really need to get out more..

You go from never being able to post a pic, to suddenly posting these shots 4hrs. after you've been hung out to dry? All of a sudden you're here to redeem your image? Lol. You actually lost it as far as I'm concerned. I've been cool with you the whole time, even during our "petty" back n forth arguments I take things all in fun.. But this is a bit odd for you to have saved yourself for this moment? Like really man. You surely must have better things to do, don't you?

If you really desired somekind of applause for your efforts then here's a golfclap.👏🏼
You're too old to not be more productive than this, Bob.

P.S. I hope you didn't have to go buy all that stuff today. Lol. Cuz it wasn't worth it. Your credibility is zero thanks to this tryhard effort. Good day.

I never claimed to have a California Duster. If I did, I wouldn't be waiting on the sidelines interested to hear the discussion from actual people who do use them. I just happen to find this topic interesting. Is that a bad thing? Am I not allowed to listen in with the cool crowd unless I own 1 too? Comparisons sake..... Even if I had 1, you're not worthy of me having to prove anything to you. Ha.

here's an actual legit question about the California Duster by someone who not only trusts it, [rightfully so, because there's nothing wrong with using them, when used correctly] but is asking a great question about it. I can't wait to hear some real replies.

My Godfather, Bobby Villanueva [RIP] was 1 of the founders of the Pharaoh's car club here in the South Bay part of Los Angeles. He owned several classic cars through the years, but his baby, his 1st car that he ever bought at a young age and was his immaculate garage queen for decades was a 1938 Chevy Stylemaster. His car was featured several times in Lowrider Magazine and also was the car on the cover of the original release of Lowrider Oldies Vol. 6.

Not too long before he passed away he was offered $70,000 for it by a foreign buyer, but his wife didn't allow him to sell it.. I remember him telling me about that, he said for so many years she would tell me to sell it, and he'd say no way, never selling that car.. But in the end she was the 1 who wouldn't allow him sell it for all that money...

I also recall asking him for advice when it came time for me to buy my 1st car. I told him it was a Cadillac, I remember him telling me not to buy those kind of cars. I asked why not? He said those cars, they have bigger tires = more money to buy. Bigger engine = more money to fix lol. I can see his reasoning looking back. But I still went ahead and bought a Cadillac because we make our own decisions in the end. I wish he was still around because we'd be able to really bond because of our love for cars.

It's been about 10yrs. since he passed away. I don't know what happened to his 38' after he passed. He had other cars at the time as well, but I lost touch with his wifes family as he was always the person who brought everyone together, he was the life of the party. He's the reason I even think of California Dusters. Because he used to use them on his classic cars. I was a bit young during his glory years but it surely must have been some great times.

Bob,

The next time you're frantically skimming through Thesaurus.com to come up with another pompous and patronizing post, you should look up the term humility.

Ummmm.......... Ok, clicked on a California duster post to find a sniping contest.

Stop it, guys. We aren't in 3rd grade. Don't really care who said what first, and to whom. Don't care. This is about care care. The pride of AGO is the friendliness we all enjoy. I don't care about my join date, or post count either. Anyone that reads this knows that it's right.

Anyway, another yes vote for CD. I twirl mine lightly on the surface of my truck after it gets a full detail one day, and I see dust the next. Never noticed any streaking or marring from it.

Used lightly, this thing is a God-send. JMO.

I still have the CD I bought 20+ years ago; I've washed it once and it still works great. It's a duster just like the name says. Use it that way and there should be no problem.

Both your Avatars show light colored car/truck. Try using the CD on dark colored Japanese cars/trucks.
