Call to Ban YouTubers

The best was when Pan tried to claim he came up with the Merlin mix of Eco and reload. I think he went as far as saying carpro was a ware it was his idea when they released exiler.

Hahah thanks for the laugh!

There is one hidden element that is most disappointing about YouTube “detailers”: They use forums like autogeek to harvest content.

Certain product combinations, techniques and ideas are dead giveaways.

I’m surprised this thread hasn’t disappeared too

LOL. I've been mixing those as my "Blue Juice" since the first bottles of ECH20 were shipped.

Pan puts together decent videos and clearly has a following but he has zero connection to the public IMO.

Uses forums to drop his links is pretty much all he does. I'm on 3-4 major forums and he is a mirror on all of them.

:)

When you watch our LIVE detailing class videos - anytime I share something I learned from someone else - I give them due credit.

I never borrow, use or steal other guys stuff and present it as my own.

Mike, you are the nowhere in the same galaxy as the guys who drop videos and disappear. If anything, you’re probably the reason that members of this forum expect honest, informative opinions and feedback within the forum.

Let's just hope this one stands as a consensus of how the majority of us 'Geeks feel.

I was in the eye of the hurricane of those threads with Pan that got removed, and I have zero regrets. Even though those threads got a bit out of hand, I think it was a little overdue.

As a guy who tries my hardest to help out others any way I can, I really felt compelled to voice my feelings.

I am just a hobbyist, and I do not have even half the answers to most questions on here.

But, I always try and help when I can if I have any experience and/or a valid opinion. I also read just about 99% of all threads/responses even if I cannot comment intelligently. Just so I may learn from others, and maybe recommend to a new guy that (MEMBER X) might be the best guy to talk to..... (Shut up, Bob......:laughing:)

That said, I had very strong opinions about the YT "Bomb for $$ then bolt" threads/vids. Most of these members do NONE of the things I mentioned above, and this is in no way the atmosphere or spirit of AGO.

JMO.........

Let’s also not forget that these people make money from doing so.

With autogeek having such a strong stance on advertising outside their portfolio, it’s surprising there is no official position on YouTube advertisers.

Sure, you can’t, and shouldn’t, ban a public social platform, but participation guidelines should be adhered to, especially those making money off the community.

I’m sure we all agree that organic referencing of video content as a resource within the context of a discussion is well and truly acceptable. What some are doing, isn’t.

Many of the YouTube personalities that have been referenced are technically Content Creators, not detailers sharing their skills and knowledge.

The other thread, is it possibly thread(s?), turned into a name calling playground bully situation all started by the YouTuber. I believe that is why it was deleted, not because it was a YouTube thread/post.

Autogeek as far as I’m aware does not want to censor or ban unnecessarily. I can totally understand allowing certain threads to “run their course.” If they stay honest fair and civil like this one, they’ll allow it to stay open and maybe see it as a feedback thread? Glean some info on our thoughts. If the thread happens to go a different route? Well I could see why they’d want to delete that.

The way that other thread feel apart, I’m glad it got deleted. Not because it spared Pan of his rambling and hate spewed name calling to the forum and it’s members, some long time and some new. But because it spared those exact members of HAVING to stoop to his level to defend themselves, each other and the forum of that ever popping up in history. It’s not fair to any of them.

Who cares about him and his ego at the end of the day, if the thread is lost forever at the protection of all of us here, the forum and all those who HAD to act in that thread, that’s the most important part, IMO of course.

It was disappointing to be honest to see Pan stoop to that level more than anything.

Stop you tube detailing videos sounds like socialism 2 me

Agreed.

And his suggestion that we were all beneath him somehow (had to include his YT stats), and should bow down and apologize infuriated me.

Hey Will, hope my phrasing of “members of HAVING to stoop to his level” wasn’t taken as a slight against you or anybody else. Honestly nobody was acting as badly as Pan.

Just saying that his antics led to members having to be defensive to some degree. The name calling, bullying and “alpha posturing” was all him!

Heck, Paul was still playing Mister Nice Guy!
