Called Chemical Guys today...

I gave up on CG after two failed attempts to get questions answered on the phone, and complete inability to answer four product questions that were clearly and numerically listed in an e-mail. At least in the e-mail reply, with unprofessional slang and lack of proper punctuation, the guy told me twice he was part of CG's Detailing University - outstanding!

Oh, and in my big initial order from them, I had two leaking 16oz. bottles as well.

I'm not a complete hater - I like some of their towels and 5050 wax.

I make it a point to not buy any of their products because of their pitiful customer service (I do make an exception for Inner Clean because I have found nothing else as good that I could switch to).

I have emailed them several times, and I either get no response, or a barely intelligible response that looks like something that came out of a high-schooler's text message that does not even attempt to answer my question. I got a real gem one time that I wish I had saved.

I agree with Frankenberry when he said their emails contain: "unprofessional slang and lack of proper punctuation."

In contrast, I email and call Optimum Polymer Technologies all the time and speak to polite people that are educated about all the products they sell. They always have time to speak to me and always get back to me when I email them.

I just recently began detailing on the side and starting with some Chemical Guys products.

-Mr Pink (Great soap, but doesn't seem to wash off easy? Water sticks to the paint after)
-nonSense (Cleans well with no scent.)
-Luber (Seems to do its job)
-V7
-Diablo Wheel Gel (Cheap wheel cleaner that works)
-Jetseal109 (Still not sure about durability)
-G6 Coating (Liking it on tires. Trick is to start with a clean tire and buff off excess)

I have a few other new ones I can't comment on yet.

I was very disappointed when I made an order and they forgot to put a Claybar in the package. Sent them an email and never got a response. Not too happy about it.

Not a fan of chemical guys. Their website is a disaster and their sales are a joke. They raise the price 30% and then list it as being on sale 25% off so it's back to the original price.
Haven't liked any of the stuff I've bought from them. Citrus wash and gloss does make a good pad cleaner though lol.

One thing about CG, you can't complain about their prices. Their stuff is fairly cheap.

Lol. 99.9% of smaller online retailers do this, hell brick and mortar stores do this. This is not new anywhere. If they're the only retailer ever to do this I can get your beef, but they're really not.

I remember once looking at a piece of jewelry for a gf in Macy's...and the next time I went back they were having a 50% off sale! And I could swear they doubled the price and marked it down to what it was when I was there the previous time.

Greg Masterson. He would probably be your best bet to get the answer
If I would decide to become a "chemicals-products" entrepreneur...
I wouldn't worry myself over having successful contacts/contracts
with just the 1-2% of the people that niche-advertising reaches.

Instead: I would find a place where: "Free advertising is cheap".

Anyone know offhand where I can find such a place? Link?
Thanks.

Ha! Exactly, this scenario happened two times to me now!

It's been almost 2 years since I've bought CG products. I had spent over $400 on one order and had a defective sprayer in that order. I called and they said they couldn't give me a refund or send me a new product. I had even sent them photos of the leak the bottle created when using it with their new gallon of waterless wash. They said I would have to re-purchase to receive a new one.

I was astonished after all the products I had bought from being a loyal customer that I was treated that way. Since then, I have never order another product of theirs.:nomore:

That's crazy. A simple sprayer shouldn't be too much to replace. I've gotten defective brushes and microfiber towels from different companies and they were more than willing to replace them. I've emailed CG a time or two before and received no responses. I don't have a lot of their products, but I'm about to try Glossworkz shampoo. They do have tons of products that all seem to have very similar descriptions or they just don't know how to better describe their products, lol. Their YouTube videos are getting redundant, as well. I swear, I think they've posted the same videos twice, either renamed or not, and they still leave them up.

I like the quote in your signature. :)
