“OPERATION HAMMER TIME”

This black muscle car came in on referral. The owner saw another black Camaro I have previously corrected and coated and wanted the same treatment on his muscle bound beast!

For a brand new vehicle with such low mileage, the dealer really did a number on the finish. It is FULL of swirls, holograms, hazy paint, scratches, poor repair attempts, etc; that have resulted in even more holograms, VERY thin clear in some areas (1.2m range) and some hurt clear in areas. My client is very upset that his vehicle looks as it does, and was noticeably upset after I went over the vehicle with him under my LED lights.

I’m hoping for a huge turnaround and explained that some areas I need to tread very lightly on and around. I will be taking my usual approach of being conservative with the correction; while attempting to achieve as much ‘%’ of correction as possible while taking this avenue.

Onto the meat and potatoes!

After the initial hit:

Getting corrected and glossy!

Good lord that thing was hammered! I had to do a double take to see that it had less than 1,000 miles on it! You really brought out the beauty in this BEAST of a car!

Great job!
I would have loved to see the owner's reaction when the saw those results.

How in the HE did THAT car get THAT hammered in 935 miles

Great save as usual, maybe the MLB should hand out some save award to YOU

On top of being hammered with less than 1k miles, clear with around 1.2mils. That would be enough to really pee me off if it was mine. I'm not sure If I'd buy a used vehicle without measuring paint anymore.

What a transformation! Great job and you can guarantee he will impressed with those results.

Thanks everyone!!! Owner was blown away and beyond happy when he picked it up! Heck I was thrilled with how it came out! LOL

That transformation is nothing short of amazing! :dblthumb2:

BTW: this past summer my ten year old twins and I took one of those Beasts for a test drive. Wow!

Thanks for the comments everyone! Yes, the dealer 'fixed' it and did that damage. They attempted to remove some scratches/etc...

It turned out great Scott!! Always amazed at how much damage dealerships do to cars. That solid black Camaro paint is usually pretty soft, was that the case with this one?

I would've guessed it had metallic in it, maybe in a perfect world I'd PRAY for metallic black paint only!

Thanks guys!

Dave, it was medium. Not too hard like a lot of GM clear.

Klasse: I too thought it had some metallic or pearl in it after I did my test spot and checked it out closely under my lights. I am still curious, so I'm going to research this paint to see!

Wow!!! Very nice work!!! I see you've been very busy of late... Just dropped in to say hi to some old friends.... so... Hi!!!

Wow! Holy Cow! :wow:

What did they do to that poor thing!? How do they not see it? Or do they simply not care? :dunno:

Absolutely incredible turn around Scott, you really done it justice. I'm a sucker for red belts! :props: Are they factory rims Scott? Rather nice looking rims too.

Fantastic post my friend, awesome write up, superb pictures & phenomenal results - thank you for sharing. :Picture:

Thanks Aaryn, yes, they are factory wheels. They did a good job with them! Me too, I like 'different or fancy' interiors. And colored belts get me everytime! I don't think the dealer saw nor cared about what it looked like after their 'repairs'. A shame...

LOL Paul! I'm sure you could! The exhaust was mean!
