Can a newbie realistically apply Opti-coat?

to the OP, you sound like me a year ago. I still have OC on my civic, daily driver, through one Iowa winter already. She still beads...lol.

As for application difficulty, I too was concerned at first, asking all sorts of questions, etc. In the end, it's really not that bad. I made a couple of mistakes early on, i.e. letting it flash too quickly. I actually wipe it in, and not let it sit like other folks do. If it does flash too quickly just get your gray pad and a fine polish ready, and buff that spot away lightly, then reapply OC till you get it right.

It's really not hard.

If you want the tiny spray bottle for Opti Coat but can't find one local, go to any chain drug store and buy the small travel size eye glass cleaner spray kit. It usually comes in a little kit for about 3 bucks with a glass cleaner towel. The bottle is a few ounces with a very fine atomized spray that has a tiny foot print (its designed to spray on an eye glass lense). Clean the bottle out with Dawn and IPA - let dry. I used this bottle in the past, before I switched to the eye dropper, and it worked well.

Never meant to imply you couldn't use optimum polishes or probably any number of other polishes, just that normally I see poli-seal recommended.
Poli-seal having very little cut and being able to remove high spots prior to complete curing is similar to the results that slammin had, that removing the defects are quite easy and not a reason for concern.

PolySeal is the standard way to remove high spots. I prefer Optimum Finishing Polish because it doesnt leave any sealant on the surface. Just my preference.

Great advice!

Very clever idea!
