My buddy DD's this '97 Civic. It sits outside 24/7 at college. I noticed this oxidation-looking stuff the other night, and offered to put some paint sealant on before it gets any worse. I'm not an expert on paint, but I was wondering if this is clear coat coming off or oxidation? I don't know if the paint is single stage or not, but hopefully it is.

I have a PC & Wolfgang Polishes.. and the usual pad selection.

Thanks!

It sure can... With a repaint. Sorry, it looks too bad for repair.

Alright, thanks! I'll hit it with a claybar or something and attempt to make it look a little better.. then seal it so it doesn't spread over the whole top of the car.

I would just wash and call it a day if anything. If you go messing with it too much it may look worse.

Not single stage paint, looks like clear coat failure to me...As mentioned above the only remedy for this is a repaint.

Its clear coat failure, but you could compound it, polish it, and OC it.

Why ruin a good clay bar on that? It won't do any good at all. I agree.....Wash & Walk.

Thanks guys! Unfortunate situation is unfortunate.
