Can you help explain this?

Hey Bus03, give your local body shop a call. I can almost gaurantee they will have a panel they can give you to practice on.

Just let them know what you will be doing and I am sure they will help you out.

Having something to practice on is crucial to straightening out the learning curve. You have nothing to worry about but controlling the machine and focusing On what you are doing.

Excellent idea! I never thought about the body shop route. I used to purchase panels from junkyards in the past, but never a body shop.

Ahhh! Now I need three!!!!! LOL

Well, the 3" Griots might be just the ticket for headlights. LOL. NO! NO! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doh! Forgot about the 3 incher, in the plans to buy one this year :hungry:

They both have their advantages. 90% of my work is done by a rotary. That's mainly because how fast it works. Much easier to make a mistake though. A DA is good to learn on. But then as you learn...I think it's uses become minimal IMO.

I like having both. There are situations where I like to compound using the DA. Like say for a small scuff mark, water spots, and stuff of that nature. Pretty much anything where you don't need to be too aggressive with...I like the DA.

But if I do some damp sanding, or wet sanding...the rotary is absolutely coming out. Even when I do an "All In One" polish...I like the rotary. It's all just preference. You just gotta use both! :xyxthumbs:

The Man  I mean Person with the most tools wins! :D

A couple weeks ago I called one of the shops around here and the owner gave me a hood off of a mid 2000's Chevy Truck. Its huge haha! Best part about it is its BLACK and wasn't wrecked. The clear has started to produce crows feet so the guy ended up replacing it with a cowel induction hood.

Oh yeah, and it was fa-fa-freeeeeee! Haha!

I lurve you boys. Your minds go a million miles a minute. I was originally thinking the Porter Cable but now im leaning towards the Griot 6 with a 3'' BP on hand.

NICE!!!!! Time to do some calling around. Heck, I have a friends whose father owns a body shop. Need to call him.

If you would be interested in trying a Porter Cable 7424XP and a Flex rotary, I am in the Port Richey are quite often visiting family and doing random details. I will be more then happy to let you try them next time I am down/up that way.

LOL! Close though. What is bad, is I was just there this morning for a few hours. I could have stuck around a little longer. Sorry. :(

Its ok :). Where do you live when your not in PR?

I live in Naples, but I am stationed in Ft Stewart GA. My family lives everywhere from Largo to Port Richey, and my fiance works Tues-Thurs in Palm Harbor, so whenever I have time off, I am either in Port Richey or Naples.

Oh, and like I said in the PM, by then I will probably have the GG DA as well to try. I can bring the Megs MF DA system as well if you like.

God can you say kid in a candy store? I might just have to kiss you :dblthumb2:

I'm going to totally be like this -----> :buffing:

LOL! I can bring whatever products you want to try.

At first I wrote, I might have to bring my video camera, and after I clicked "reply" I read it again. Yeah, that could have been taken way to wrong.

HAHAHAHAHA! Ahhh bring it. It would be like detailing porn. "Cara try this." "OMG!!!!"

:D

LMAO! I have water on my laptop now. Good thing I have some quick detail and a MF easily available to keep water spots from forming.

Thank god your laptop beads like a champ should be a breeze. :)

P.S. I cant remember where I saw it but someone on here detailed their brothers Blackberry!
