The first order of business was removing the horrid attempt by the 'corner car wash' at 'dressing' the interior, dressing it properly and then cleaning and conditioning the leather :bash:

Before

Maybe they ran out of product?

Corners are tough so we shall just leave them out completely

During
Plastic trim Clean: APC @10:1 / Brushes / MF Towels / SmartDressing
Leather: APC @20:1 / Brushes / MF Towels / Glossworx Leather Conditioner
Interior Glass: Autoglym Fast Glass / Glass MF Towels

This car only has 17k km's on the clock and is a 1 lady driver owner so you would think the leather on the passenger seat would still be quite clean, but alas, you would be wrong

The matt side has been cleaned, the shiny side not.

After

Arches: Cyclo APC / Mothers Fender Well Brush / HP Rinse / Shield Sheen

Enough ...er....detail..... let's see some pics

Firstly, the car had been washed prior to being bought to me. This showed.....all down the side of the car

IMG_4172_zps0e546ce6.jpg

Cheap silicone based looking tire dressing which had slung and completely detracted from the otherwise (seemingly) clean look of the car

Let's check what it looked like on the actual tires....

Yip.... looks like a whole chunk of it was blown off the tire and down the side of the car

Tire getting cleaned

Here you can see the embedded iron contamination in the corners of the spokes

And now you can see that the contamination was in fact everywhere on the wheels

And finally clean
IMG_4512_zps56fb6a53.jpg

The main 'scratch' here actually turned out to be just paint transfer and was easily clayed off the paint.

The paint itself was not too bad, hence my reason for not getting too aggressive on the correction. With the car being new still, clear coat preservation was key.

By the time Sunday came, the weather had again turned miserable so no sun shots yet again. I am detailing a Jerez Black E90 M3 next weekend and am already hoping for sunny weather on Sunday

So here are the 'beauty shots'

Total time spent = 27 hours

Thanks for looking and as always comment or questions are welcome.

Beautiful work as always Lawrence!

Is there any other color option than white when buying a new VW? Lol

Thanks Mike

Yeah man it is crazy.... lately all I seem to be doing is Candy White VW's..... I am so looking forward to the next few months, which comprise mostly black and red cars.

No offense to anyone who owns a white car.... but I need me some color in my life again :righton:

Good stuff as usual. You certainly seem to be the VW guy on here for details. Looking forward to seeing the M3.

If anyone thinks properly detailing a car is easy, take a good look at the step-by-step process Lawrence has been kind enough to share with the group.

Awesome work Lawrence! :props:

Thank you.

The VW Guy.... like Mike (smack) is the BMW guy:righton:

Yeah look I am on the committee for our local VW Club and it is a big part of my life and I am a dubber at heart, so naturally a lot of my work stems from the club and is therefore VW related. As much as I love working on them, it is always refreshing to get a different manufacturer's car to detail.

Firstly, welcome back Bobby....:dblthumb2: and thanks for your kind words.... Yes detailing is hard work (IMO there are no shortcuts and detailing is by its very nature a detailed and time consuming activity), but man it is so rewarding.

The expression on a customer's face when they see their freshly detailed car for the first time really brings me so much joy. It's a hard feeling to beat when you re-ignite the love an owner once had for their carIm the MAN

Thank you for the Welcome back. Your last sentence is spot on and the look on the car owners face is absolutely priceless!

Nicely done lawrence...I like the idea of using ONR in you drying wipe down..

Thanks Vasi:dblthumb2:

Yeah I don't dry a car anymore without some form of Quick Detailer type product to add some lubricity to the paint in order to help mitigate swirls....

It really does help a lot

Beautiful job! Great process and attention to detail.

What were the black spots down the side of the car? I have seen something like that on my truck. They look like tar but they are very hard and extremely difficult to get off. I was told it is some kind of fungus found in hardwood mulch. The spores actually shoot the stuff up to 25 ft. It is also on the white siding of the house. Really strange. It looks like you might have used Tar-X. What did you use to clean the stuff off?

Thanks and great job!

Thank you

Those spots were fortunately only the cheap silicone dressing that the corner car wash had attempted (rather poorly) to apply to the tires. It then slung up off the tires onto the sides of the car as soon as she drove off.... It washed right off the car during the initial pre-foam.
