Car Soap, I'm running out, but can't decide

I use Meguiars Gold Class, CG Maxi Suds II, and CG Glossworkz.

I want to try DG 901 and/or possibly a Dodo Juice soap.

Is the CG Glossworkz comparable to Dodo Juice sour power?
How does BTBM compare to Basics of Bling for those of you that have used it?

I am not questioning Dodo Juice b/c a lot of people say its one of the best car soaps - but I am trying to understand why? What makes dodo juice so good?

I haven't experimented much with other car soaps, but have been very happy with Meguiars Gold Class. I picked up the 128 oz. jug at Costco for $11. Can't really beat that, IMO.

I love Meguiar's Gold Class! I have 3 128oz jugs and 2 64oz jugs remaining.

The fact that they like it. I like Starbucks Regular Coffee Frappacino over the Mocha or Vanilla. What makes the coffee the best? That I like it better.

I've tried several different car washes, and you know what? They all work about the same; except for the No Rinse, which are a different animal. Some feel a little slipperier, some have more suds, some smell better, some claim to be gentler and won't strip wax. They all cleaned just fine, which is exactly what they are supposed to do. And none of them stripped the wax. Like Freud once said, "Some times a cigar is just a cigar."

You're gonna drive yourself crazy AND broke trying to find "the best" because there simply is no such thing. There will be products that work and products you want to like because they sound so cool and high techie. The former beats the latter every time.

FWIW, Meg's Gold Class is some pretty good stuff. It's cheap and it cleans extremely well. What more could you want from a soap?

Dodo Juice BTBM has a dilution of 800:1. The insane dilution also makes it a very affordable wash, per wash. The lubricants, especially considering the dilution, are the best I've experienced. BTBM is a maintanence wash, and works best on a vehicle which its appearence is well maintained and protected (I think the wash works with the lsp to help dissolve dirt/contaminants). BTBM is also the cleanest rinsing product I have used. The fact that BTBM contains no gloss enhancers adds to its ease-of-use, making it the easiest I have used, providing a finish that is streak free every time.

Here are the only two reviews I could find on this site:

Just a few reason why this is one of my favorite wash products to date.

Further, here is one of the most in depth threads about car wash preference/cost/etc.:

I agree. I've used Megs Gold Class for years but it just simply does not compare to Dodo Juice.

Dodo Juice rinses better, is pH neutral, smells better, and dilutes better. Granted it is expensive, I prefer the look of my car and others when washed with Dodo Juice over Megs Gold Class. It just has more of a gloss/sheen to it.

Gold Class is good and be found at Walmart if you can get past the smell.

Past the smell of Walmart or Gold Class? Im the MAN

Seriously though, I think Gold Class is one of the best smelling soap out there.
No fake blueberry/cherry/grape smell what-so-ever, just a great clean smell.

That being said my favorite soap would be Duragloss CWC 901/902. Even with it's cherry cough syrup smell it's the one I grab from my vast collection of wash soaps most often.

It smells like Brut Cologne. Which I have no problem with but it's overpowering. My brother used some and commented that it, "Smells like old man."

With the overwhelming amount of love for Dodo Juice BTBM from the members I think I'll pick up a bottle.

Some good advice there but I could say the same about most sealants, waxes, etc, etc.

As far as the price of GC it's not really different in price from Ultima or Optimum so I would choose either one over Gold Class.

I like Ultima Paint Guard Wash. Very slick and only 1 ounce per 3 gallons of water.

True dat, Corey. Like I said in another post, the products at this level are mostly so good it's really a matter of personal pref. I also agree on the Opt being a little better than Gold Class. But to me the diff is so little that it's a no-brainer when Wally World runs one of its stupid sales and I can get a half gallon of GC for four bucks.

My real personal pref is DP NR or ONR, as long as the car isn't too dirty. I love no rinse car washes. It saves me a step, which means more time for golf! And while some don't, I do like the gloss enhancers in the NR's.

That would probaby work out less expensive than any Meguiar's shampoo. Except that the only way I could get it is to effectively double the price with the international shipping.

Why is Gold Class so much preferred over Ultimate Wash & Wax or NXT?

Why is Gold Class so much preferred over Ultimate Wash & Wax or NXT?

I don't want a wash with a wax in it because I don't want that to interfere with the wax or sealant I choose to apply. I haven't tried the NXT because Wally World doesn't put it on sale like they do with the Gold Class. Meguiar's also notes GC as a mild shampoo that won't strip wax. And, NXT is advertised as having anti-static agents to reduce dust sticking. I'm not sure whether that would interfere with wax or sealants, while I know GC does not. Plus at some point you just have to stop trying "the next best thing" or you're gonna drive yourself broke. GC is very, very good so unless I'm out and NXT is on a big sale, I'm gonna stick with GC. Last, I really don't use that much "regular car wash". I mostly do rinseless washes with DP NR or ONR. It's so much faster and the NR's have glossing agents that leave a nice (to me) shine. I only use regular wash if the car is really dirty or I'm gonna apply one of the new coatings.

I've tried three different auto washes...Wolfgang Autobathe, Sonus Gloss Shampoo, and Ultima Paint Guard Wash. I would rate them as:

1) Ultima Paint Guard Wash...really brings the paint to a nice gloss.
2) Wolfgang Autobathe...nice lather and does not remove wax or sealants
3) Sonus Gloss Shampoo...decent but i'd rather buy one of the above.

I will be trying Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo here soon.

***I HIGHLY recommend that you marry the wash with a high quality sheepskin wash mitt * **
