Hi applied for the first time today.
The car was in the carport so under shade.
Tempature was hot outside the carport.
Ended up wiping off, going over the panels several times to get rid of the coating & high spots.
Tried smaller area (1x1 foot) seem to help a bit but that would be very time consuming.
It was grabby both application and removing.
Dried really fast when applying, cross hatching. Could only go cross hatch once. Removing was harder.
I applied x2 coats.
Should I apply another coat due to wiping off, going over the panels several times?
You are already introducing the variable of being outside with the temperature and humidity. What is your definition of "hot"?
Lite is grabby. It is also apply and wipe off. The second layer is also not needed.
Was the paint polished before applying Cquartz?
Paint does not need to be polished to apply a coating.
I have gone through just over half of the bottle, 2 coats + 3rd coat on bonnet, roof & boot. Car is a Nissan Maxima 2005 so a reasonable size.
The product I purchased just under a year ago, only opened it yesterday. Stored inside the house still in box.
Did a 3rd coat on the tops bonnet roof and boot.
Test on the wing mirrors first.
Did it in the morning 19 degrees celsius.
Using Autofibre Saver small grey and blue.
What I found.
Fresh applicator and towels.
Wing mirrors went well.
As the applicatior got more full it started to get grabby. Actually for a part there on a smooth surface it was like gritty type feel sound, hope that makes sense.
Switched to the other side and moved onto the roof and same again as I got more into it.
With the colder temperature it helped but not still ideal.
Thanks
Yes almost half a bottle but done 2.5 coats, half being the tops of the car.
Is this still to much.
I thought it would do 4-5 cars, single coats?
Thanks for that, maybe x2 lite coats are better than x1 heavy not that was the intensions, was always going to be x2 coats anyway.
Maybe it was clogging up the applicator.
Reading all of this here are some things.
1. You are using way too much product and overloading the applicator. That coating saver has enough coating on it. It should not take half a bottle to coat a 2005 Maxima. From my estimation, 30 ml's is enough to coat the paint alone. I barely touched the bottle when I used it on a small SUV and I coated the paint and wheels.
Per CarPro: Coverage 15ml-50ml per coat depending on method of application.
2. The life span of the coating per CarPro "*This coatings shelf life expectancy is approximately 12-14 months unopened, and 6 months or less once opened.*
Lite becomes unusable and super tacky once it has started to reach its end of life. I had an open bottle fully crystallize at 8 months.
3. 19 degrees C is not bad at all. That is 66 degrees F which is a good temperature and not "hot". If you have air coming into the area, that will also affect the way the coating is setting up on the surface along with the humidity.
4. Switch out your applicator if you are applying rather slow. The coating starts to cure on the applicator making it harder to apply.
5. Only one layer of Lite is needed.
