Hi applied for the first time today.
The car was in the carport so under shade.
Tempature was hot outside the carport.
Ended up wiping off, going over the panels several times to get rid of the coating & high spots.
Tried smaller area (1x1 foot) seem to help a bit but that would be very time consuming.
It was grabby both application and removing.
Dried really fast when applying, cross hatching. Could only go cross hatch once. Removing was harder.

I applied x2 coats.

Should I apply another coat due to wiping off, going over the panels several times?

You can if you want to but I would think you’re probably good. Think I have seen that SIC is recommended for higher temps.

If you had to go over it several times I’m guessing that there’s some high spots, if it was me with that amount of difficulty I’d wait until it was cooler and less humid. I went thru this with the Blackfire coating and it was just a disaster and way more aggravating that it needed to be

Thanks for your reply.
Do you think its the heat only?
I'm going to do my girlfriends new Kia Sportage and don't want to go through this again.
The car we did was her 2005 Nissan Maxima.

It was really hard to even get some of it off. Extremely grabby.

Just hoping I haven't scratched it going over several times.

You could always do a test panel (say front bumper) on her car and see if it is any easier. I think they say lite is rated at 40-100* F. I would imagine if that’s true it wasn’t temp related. How thick were you applying? How new/old was the product? It’s been since last spring when I applied Lite to three cars. I don’t remember it being too grabby but I did get high spots. It was the first time I ever did a coating and my lighting was terrible.

Good luck. Maybe @guz will reply.

Was the paint polished before applying Cquartz?

I have gone through just over half of the bottle, 2 coats + 3rd coat on bonnet, roof & boot. Car is a Nissan Maxima 2005 so a reasonable size.
The product I purchased just under a year ago, only opened it yesterday. Stored inside the house still in box.

Yes it was with Carpro Fixer, by hand came out nice.
Clayed and removed oils etc with Wolfgang Perfikt (went over twice)

Did a 3rd coat on the tops bonnet roof and boot.
Test on the wing mirrors first.
Did it in the morning 19 degrees celsius.
Using Autofibre Saver small grey and blue.
What I found.
Fresh applicator and towels.
Wing mirrors went well.
As the applicatior got more full it started to get grabby. Actually for a part there on a smooth surface it was like gritty type feel sound, hope that makes sense.
Switched to the other side and moved onto the roof and same again as I got more into it.
With the colder temperature it helped but not still ideal.

Half the bottle? Sounds like your over applying and the heat doesn't help.

Yes almost half a bottle but done 2.5 coats, half being the tops of the car.
Is this still to much.
I thought it would do 4-5 cars, single coats?

I used about a third of a bottle for two coats on a Lincoln Navigator L. Had enough left over for a Jeep Patriot and a small Toyota crrossover. You are applying way too much.

So no need to do a third coat on rest of car, done tops with 3rd coat?
I wouldn't so due to overloading, just thought might dragged a lot of it away.
Wondering as soon as the Autofibre applicator has the rubber backing I need to knock it back to 5-7 drops as it is primed?

I’ve slept since then but I think 5-7 drops was where I started and backed off from there. I used the applicators that came in the kit. I really don’t think a third coat is necessary. I got 18 months on our garage kept SUV band it could have gone further.

Personally don't think it hurts to do the tops as they get a lot of UV over here.

Please don't think I am questioning anybody at all but why do Carpro say 10-12 drops per 24x24 I don't understand when the possibility of this happening.
The dropper on the tops this morning really isn't dropping if you know what mean, almost continuous.

Sandro @ Car Craft Auto on YouTube talks about prim8mg with 12 drops and then going to 5ish drops after that. I’m sure that’s what I followed originally. I really do expect your problems are due to the amount you used as it was so much more than I experienced (with good results). Not sure about the discussion about tops. The only reason I didn’t do mine originally was because I couldn’t get to it on the tall vehicle.

Thanks for that, maybe x2 lite coats are better than x1 heavy not that was the intensions, was always going to be x2 coats anyway.
Maybe it was clogging up the applicator.

You are already introducing the variable of being outside with the temperature and humidity. What is your definition of "hot"?

Lite is grabby. It is also apply and wipe off. The second layer is also not needed.

Paint does not need to be polished to apply a coating.

Reading all of this here are some things.

1. You are using way too much product and overloading the applicator. That coating saver has enough coating on it. It should not take half a bottle to coat a 2005 Maxima. From my estimation, 30 ml's is enough to coat the paint alone. I barely touched the bottle when I used it on a small SUV and I coated the paint and wheels.

Per CarPro: Coverage 15ml-50ml per coat depending on method of application.

2. The life span of the coating per CarPro "*This coatings shelf life expectancy is approximately 12-14 months unopened, and 6 months or less once opened.*

Lite becomes unusable and super tacky once it has started to reach its end of life. I had an open bottle fully crystallize at 8 months.

3. 19 degrees C is not bad at all. That is 66 degrees F which is a good temperature and not "hot". If you have air coming into the area, that will also affect the way the coating is setting up on the surface along with the humidity.

4. Switch out your applicator if you are applying rather slow. The coating starts to cure on the applicator making it harder to apply.

5. Only one layer of Lite is needed.

28-32 degrees C with humidity in the 80-90 range (this was the temperature when applied day before). Summer has only began. Doesn't seem much but people from overseas say its hotter here than back at there home town. I thought a temperature is what it is and just the humidity.
19 degrees C was about 8am - this was this morning which was better to apply and wipe off, not ideal though.

About to do girlfriends 2022 Kia Sportage SUV 2022 in about 2 days.
Need to work earlier in the morning at around 7am about 17 degrees C.

With your experience what would the top temperature to work with under my circumstances as a guide.
