it's spring time!

appears every person in the area has decided it's time to clean their car/truck and make thing look "good" for spring.

walking from the entrance of a business through a parking lot to get back to my truck, I make note of how many vehicles need to have their head lights polished. now thats its warm outside, I notice a wave of vehicles that have been washed to a swirled out mess *thanks to the abundance of swirl-o-matic* car washes in the area, or by way of people at home washing in the driveway with old towels not fit to dry a person after a shower. ahhhh...

so in my short stroll of passing around 100 vehicles, i spotted none that were "clean"... until i made it to my truck.

thanks goes out to the following
- Sonax
- Dimonite
- DP
- Menzerna
- Blackfire
- 303
- Leatherique
- Chemical Guys
- Optimum
- and a few others autogeek doesnt have yet.

few and far between cars are actually clean and cared for properly.

I've gotten into a bad habit of spotting these as well. Although my car still has a ton of swirls and scratches I havn't taken care of yet, I feel better knowing there's plenty of cars out there to be cleaned and that I have a good idea of how to keep mine clean.

My cars, even when a bit dirty, still look better than 90% of the cars on the road.

Such a good feeling!

haha I told my fiancee I needed to at least spray my car down with a qd but I was going to wash it this past weekend (didn't get to) but she said to me "but it's not even dirty really." Good feeling to hear that but I told her she was very wrong haha.

i also look at cars while i am out and notice ALOT of the big $$$$ cars are in horrible shape. i also try to spot swirls marks on car commercials on t.v. too. lol

I just wish I could put an invisible barrier around mine to keep the damn dust off it. I have to do a WW or QD on it everynight when I get home and put it in the garage.

I saw a guy washing his black Escalade with Windex and a paper towel on Sunday!

I was at work when I watched somebody washing a work truck with pinesol and some cut up rags.

I don't think I've ever seen a vehicle that hasn't at least needed something.

I even had a customer come in with a black corvette, and he felt the need to hand me two buckets, sheep skin wash mitts, and plushy drying towels to wash his car with, ha.

He was obviously hinting at the fact that I don't know what I'm doing. So, after I showed him my own two buckets, mitts, and chinchilla towels (which made his look stupid), we went to look at this prized jewel of his.

I don't think it could have been more swirled, ha. I explained to him that whatever he's doing is either causing swirls, or it was already swirled before he started his wash method.

He basically didn't believe me, and only got a spruce up. As I'm sure you figured out...a spruce doesn't get rid of swirls, ha. Oh well!

LOL - too funny man. I gave up on thinking that people know when they are completely swirled up. Don't lose sleep anymore after shining their swirls, cause they are so happy with a shiney car lol. Those that truly care mention swirl removal before the service anyhow.

It doesn't bother me. But, when someone walks in MY shop and decides to start handing me tools of the trade...they better have a swirl free vehicle sitting outside, ha.

I learned a LONG time ago that the money is in shining the paint, not correcting it. Corrections are great for the money. But, unfortunately (at least in my area) there's no way to maintain a business doing only corrections. Even when you educate someone about swirls...they look at you like you have OCD, ha.

Like Mike says, "Most people don't know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel."

I don't run across too many either that look taken care of.

Do you use the Chinchillas for drying? I saw the new 16" by 24" size and was wondering how well that would work. Thoughts on this?
