Ok so my PC's speed control started to go bad about a month ago but i just ignored it because im dumb. At first it wouldnt even turn on in any speed below 4 then eventually it would only work on speed 6. I didnt have many options since this was my money maker it was either fix it or get a GG because i cant afford the flex which is what i really want to upgrade to. I also couldnt afford to leave it at a repair shop for a week. So i opted to fix it myself since i was an electronics tech in the navy. Once i did it i was surprised at how easy the repair was.
Sorry for no pics but my camera was dead i might take it back appart and take a few later.
(Note Please only attempt this if your PC is out of warranty like mine was)
What you need:
1. Speed Control Switch Part No. N059511
I found this at a local repair shop but it can also be ordered online at Delta | Porter-Cable ServiceNet
2. a 3/16" flat head Screw Driver (a regular flat head screw driver is required because those ones with the multiple bits won't fit in one of the screw holes.)
Ok so first off make sure the polisher is unplugged shouldn't have to mention this but you never know.
The are 3 screws in the back half of the polisher where the speed control is located. The are star bit heads but also have a slot in them for a flat head. remove all 3 screws.
Once all three screws are removed seperate the back halves to reveal all the eltronic gizmos.
Carefully pull the speed control out of its little cubby hole. There should be nothing holding it in.
There are three wires that plug into the side of the switch. One by one carefully pull the out of the old switch and put them into the corrosponding hole in the new switch. Push the wires in until they click and wont come out with out any effort.
Put the new switch in the cubby hole molded in the plastic and make sure that the plastic spoon looking thing coming from the main body of the polisher fits over the black switch in in the back half before putting everything back together.
Test the polisher out and you are good to go.
Glad i decided to change the switch because $12 and a about 15mins of time sure beats the heck out of a new $130 polisher
