Chemical Guys Coating Second skin 6

Where's the other 5 generations of second skin?

LOL. My thoughts exactly.

Cg is a joke. They have 9000 of the same product, grammatical errors all over the site, misinformation everywhere and the videos are more of a poor comedy routine than informational.

Oh boy...those are fighting words for some on this forum. Besides, they apparently only have 6 coatings, not 9000.

Some of their soaps and cleaners are good, but I lost all faith in anything they claim since I bought Lava. I also know they delete all bad reviews.

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I only buy soaps & cleaners from them. I also tried lava and it was HORRIBLE.

Some of the worst products I have used. I've heard some products get good words, but I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

False claims and misleading products/information. I'm sure this is no different.

I bought some microfiber towels from their site a few times- the towels seem of good quality so far and the prices are a bit more reasonable than the cobra towels on AG.

Agreed.

Silk shine and All Clean+ are great, but a lot of others are nothing special.

I've got a handful of products from them and really like them all. Don't understand why they get so much hate in this thread.

IMO it's due to the amount of bogus claims their marketing department makes on a regular basis and the relabeling of products and calling them "new". I can't even get MSDS sheets from them because I wanted to compare the signature line with some other stuff I had. Now this vintage stuff is coming out.

Don't get me wrong, I use some CG products like their CWC and Jetseal but their marketing scheme is bogus at times but it obviously works. To say that SS6 "lasts forever or a really long time", then not prove themselves with ANY durability testing...and on top of that day is the sixth generation of something that they have never introduced to the market? :dunno:

Gens 1-5 were development tests. Gen six was the first ready for the market.

No I do not work for CG.

Looks like chemical guys got on the coating train. Its call SS6 (second skin 6). Looks like DP coating at a higher price. They have a video on Youtube

Ya I watched the video...

First I hate the fact he is talking about this like it was something new. He goes on saying this is a unique product that creates a new category. I hate false advertisement!

Second, and I have been noticing this in pretty much every Chemical Guys videos, he is very sloppy in the application of the products. I hate bad workmanship.

They're so close, but...

When did they generation 1 thru 5 of SS? He says its a "6th generation coating" ???

"Its unlike any product on the market"..."it created a brand new category for detailing protective coatings

"Improved clarity on the glass"

- Really?

Looks like easy application though

They probably did 5 other test products and this batch is what they decided to go with. A bit like WD40. The first 39 did not go into production.

I hope the same doesn't apply to Boeing airplanes...

Exactly. It's poor marketing. WD40 didn't bust out in their market claiming they had a 40th generation product. Too each his own I guess.

They create some good/great products.

Also they create some poor over hyped products as well.

The thing I don't like with the video is what everyone else is saying, false advertisement.

"Nothing on the planet can protect as much as ss6"....highly doubtful. If I were to use this product along with another product over time and found this not true I would give them a jingle. There is a point that can be crossed with going too far in wording and false advertising that it becomes abused and you knowingly do it for profit, hype and sales.

"Nothing is as slick" oh yah? Wanna bet on that?

"...protect for years"

"...any exterior surface..." Tires too? lol

I feel bad because they create some good products, work at it and do new things but when they bs about the product or hype it up it makes me sigh. I wanna like these guys too.
