Chemical Guys Coating Second skin 6

I'm not knocking the product at all (can't knock something I haven't had a chance to evaluate personally), but...

Any LSP, sealant, or coating is going to look phenomenal on a stunning car like that...

Even Turtle Wax...

Agreed, but curating product reviews completely negates the purpose of reviews.

Companies that do this might as well remove the comments and implement a feedback form instead.

They should call it "Testimonials" or "Select Reviews" if they want to screen it so thoroughly.

Totally understand removing flame trolls, but seeing an objective lukewarm review would build my confidence in buying something. That's just me though, I am not a marketing guru and obviously CG is getting it right.

I like a lot of their products, BTW, but all the marketing cheese makes me very curious how to find the same stuff elsewhere.

Their marketing won't prevent me from buying their products. I just won't rely on reviews posted on the website when deciding whether or not to buy a product. Then again, nobody should, on any website, buy based on reviews alone.

Every time I bought something from cg they ask me to follow up on a review about the products i bought. And left 2 or 3 star ratings out of 5 and they took down my comments...

Has anyone actually tried this? 7 pages and I have seen 1 person actually use it and say it has lasted 6 months

It was release last week. So I doubt anyone on here has tried it unless they were one of the testers

Sorry wasn't aware of this. Kinda sick of all the hate without any proof as if late. I may order and give it a try

I think the hate goes towards the claims cg makes. Saying there is nothing in the market like it. When there is several coatings out there. They really like hyping things up.

My only problem is that there are better options out there for the price they are asking. Along with that goes the protection of only a year.

I would feather go with DP paint coating which gives you 2 year and half the price.

For a little more money you can go with Opti-coat 2.0

I just have a hard time justifying the price for what you get.

I'm not sure what the incentive is to try this product, when there are proven products (proven over years now) that do the same thing and last longer and likely are cheaper. This is what we call in the pharmaceutical industry a "me too" product, which is basically just another copy cat product that really offers nothing new, so a manufacturer can cash in on a certain market segment. In this case it's coatings.

At least the DP coatings offers a low price, multiple applications, and expert help through AutoGeek. That's innovation in my book.

For anyone interested in this product, what is the incentive that makes you want to try it?

Looking for that magic bullet. How do you think these vendors stay in business..because of guy's like us, alway's looking for the next best thing.

Reading this thread has made me rethink all of the CG stuff I've bought, and I've bought a lot. I was thinking of buying this stuff after I got the email notice on it yesterday but its pricey. And I already have a shelf full of bottles from them. I'm not sure I want to drop another $100.

Using this stuff would do away with having to use glaze, wax and seal or us this a final step?

none of use will know what it can do until we use it and it gets an unbiased comparison and review. i use many cg products. i am always careful about cost with any product. if something is proven and well reviewed and cost effective for business putting more money in my pocket i'm gonna buy that regardless who makes it. i never impulse buy detailing products it's a waste of my money.

I see what you're saying, but I would say that guys who are not like us. The people who first get into detailing or when people don't research and get hooked on the hype.

I thought all I would need is chemical guys stuff since they had everything and their flashy marketing got me at first. Then after the research and time spent I use a couple of their products only.

To me it's the people who just go with what they see and hear and when they get hooked on that hype they stay with it.

I don't see any veteran, or even novice who has done some research, wanting to buy this.

The claims they make are way too high on this product for a new product that has plenty of competitors. I have spent hundreds of dollars with them and in general like their products but they tend to be overpriced except on sales.
Their microfiber towels are good for the price
V7 is great
optical grade polishes are decent, but I don't think they gave me better results than the meguiar twins.
Their car soaps are decent, but slightly overpriced.

This product is way too much for what it offers, and opticoat is probably better

They make some of the best "bang for your buck" soaps out there. And I believe their citrus wash and gloss is one of the, if not the, cheapest.

I also find their prices reasonable on most products. Fro example, their fabric clean comes out to less than $.30 for 32oz.

I have recently applied SS6 to my Jet Black BMW. Application was very easy. Very high gloss shine. so far, I am pleased with the results.
