Chemical guys

The citrus wash and gloss is awesome and the foam gun is pretty nice too.

I must be using the tire shines wrong.
I've tried g6 hyper coat, new car shine, natural finish.
They look good when I first apply them but I'm lucky if I get three days before that untreated look sets back in. I must not be cleaning the tire properly before applying.

Try cleaning more aggressively. 3 days is extremely short, I easily get 1-2 weeks out of just Megs Hyper Dressing and close to 4 out of Wolf's Blackout Gel. 2 Coats each, minor shine for the first few days then settles to a nice satin look after that.

I feel like cg hasn't created a solid trim dressing. Alot of people like g6 or vrp for the tires. Try using mothers all wheel and tire cleaner to clean up the tires properly then apply and see how it goes. G6 has lasted about 2 weeks I think on my exterior trim

I've been cleaning my tires with just car soap. And applying dressing with a retired MF wax applicator, good idea?

What do you guys like for interior general cleaning (dash, trim, etc...not leather, carpet, or upholstery)? I'm looking at

1) Green Clean
2) InnerClean
3) Nonsense

I like that InnerClean has UV protection, but don't know about pineapple scent...not my favorite smell. The other 2 don't appear to offer any kind of UV protection. Appreciate suggestions. Thanks.

Try using an all purpose cleaner or a safe degreaser. That will do the trick! And as far as application goes, I like using a foam applicator pad. I've been wanting to get CG new car shine dressing so I want to hear more about it! And good luck I hope I helped :)

I was going to try some chemical guys stuff so I decided to see if I could get some more info from them. They dont have a live chat so i emailed them on the products I was looking to get. I emailed them on July 22nd and it took them til Aug 13 to respond. I think they only have two people working in support one named Jay ortega and the other Jmunoz. They both suck!! They really need to work on their customer service. I love autogeek but they are all the way in fl and I am in az. Needles to say I havent ordered anything from them. I also tried calling and was unable to get anyone there either

A lot of Geeks have major issues with CG. I don't know why. I have never had a issue with products or customer service. Well with the exception of wheel brushes but we all complain about those.
I purchased MF towels from CG and AG the CG towels are a better price and much better then the AG towels. I kicked the AG's to interior work and save the CG's for paint and have never had a problem with performance or longevity.
Every company makes and sells bum products. If you find something you like stick with it.
I'm not a big meg's fan. I do have a couple of products that are good. I used 105 and 205 once luckily I got samples of them. Great results but too much dusting. V series polishes get great results and no dusting issues and nice long work times.
Sometimes I think it's a bandwagon thing sometimes just hating on CG. They have great products that do work and work well. On many of there products you can't beat price to performance value. You just have to know which one's to pick and what your preference is in performance.

It wasn't Jay Ortega! He is no longer with them. Jay is also a really good guy. You shouldn't just say he sucks if you don't know him.

Keep thread on topic and stop the insulting please.

I use mostly chemical guys stuff and I love their line. They have a couple of products I stay away from:

- Glass Cleaners (Streak)
- Tire Dressings (Don't Last/Sling)
- Final Polishes (Micromarring)

Other than those little things, I love their line of products. They also give pretty good customer service IMOE...

Ya I have noticed that a lot of people have issues with them.

For me it went like this:

I watched all their videos on youtube, I am subscribed to their channel. So when it was time to order some products, they were at the top of my list with Meguiar's. When I started comparing prices, I found CG to be super expensive. So I decided to order the only product that Meguiar's did not have: Air freshner. I ordered New Car scent in the 16 ounces bottle.

When I received it I tried it undiluted. I was thinking that I wanted this thing to last a long time. I hated the smell. It smells like pesticide, nothing to do with new car scent at all.

I then read this could be dilluted. Did some research and decided to go 4:1 I tried it again, smelled better but not that good. And it only lasted about a day in the car.

So ya, very disapointed with them. I have some shampoo I have not tried yet: Honeydew. Lots of detailers seems to like it, so I think that will be something I will like a lot more. On the other hard, that stuff is super expensive so I doubt I will buy more of it when you can get Meguiar's shampoos for 25 to 50% of the price CG charge.

My main issue with them is the price of their products and the false advertisement they make in their videos. Like the claims they made recently regarding their new coating, it a lot of lies on top of lies.

But, if you enjoy their products, use them often as Mike would say ;)

I tried contacting them by email also. Took them 3 days to reply if memory serves. That is not too bad. I did not expect instant info by email.

On the other hand, I asked about dillution rations for New Car scent explaining they had the same info for dillution on their gallon size container and their 16 ounces container: "Can be dilluted to make 2 gallons of product"... so I asked them which was it : 1:1 or 7:1?

The answer I got was: All our products are concentrated, so you can dillute them to serve your needs.

So ya, support is pretty weak to say the least.

I forgot to mention that I do use their Mr. Pink for both my foam lance and bucket wash. It seems to work well for both, but again I don't have much to compare it to because I have only used OTC soaps from auto parts stores before. I have not compared it to other premium brand car soaps. I also tried their Honeydew Snow Foam for the foam lance, but felt the Mr. Pink was a bit better. I'm sure many AutoGeeks would say their are better options for foaming (feel free to do so cuz I'm open to trying something new).

I would also say that their customer service isn't the greatest. Not horrible, but not great.

DG 901 does a nice job in the foamer. I use it in the foam master and actually dilute it about 1:1 and use the middle setting (position C I believe). It's a wetter foam, but you can get thicker by not diluting and using the lowest dilution setting on the foamer (that's either A or E...whichever one is less water and more soap). I dilute and use setting C typically on dry paint. If I rinse first, I would use a lower dilution setting since there is already water on the paint.

Just like all companies Chemical Guys have their hits and misses. I personally I like most of their auto soaps and bare bones for the undercarriage. But I do feel their products have way to much overlap.

Not sure why you're only getting a few days after applying the dressing.
I get two weeks out of one application , looks nice for the entire two weeks then it's time to clean and dress again.

Make sure the tires are super clean, sometimes you must clean them a couple of times to make sure nothing from the past is present.

Make sure the tires are completely dry, even though they look dry doesn't mean they are completely dry.

I put two light, even coats, I wait an hour before I apply the second coat, I want to make sure it absorbs the product fully.

The tips I just gave may seem like, Duh I know that but if you apply the dressing on a slightly dirty tire you won't get great results.
It's truly an amazing dressing not only for tires but also for the interior , I apply it to my dash to protect it from the sun, it's water based so you do get that oily feel to it:dblthumb2:

Oh, works wonders on my dress shoes too:dblthumb2:

I have used alot of CG stuff and the only product I can say I really love is the Microfiber Cleaner...
