Guys,
if I want to remove any existing LSP (except coating) by a chemical way - NOT by polishing - what other products I can use besides Griot's Paint Prep? I simply want a product to use on cars I have no history and to just be safe in general before re-applying a new LSP.

It seems that Griot's Paint Prep is just for this job, but sadly it is not available in my area.

I am new to this, and the terminology for these products are super confusing, as you know.

Thanks in advance.

Not available as in can't walk into a store and buy it, or not allowed to be sold where you are for some reason? Reason I ask is that I believe that's one of those products that has to ship ground, but I can't buy it locally either so I just order via web.

OTC pre-wax cleaners will work. Mothers has Step 1 and Meguiars has something similar. I know Mother's Step 1 has no LSP properties.

Reading a bit more about Prep All, I'm going to stop using it. Too many solvents and some hazardous to your health (toluene, benzene). I googled it before to see how strong it was but didn't come up with much. I just googled it again and found some things I did not like. Not sure how those solvents will affect the clear coat long term with continued use.

I believe pre-wax cleaners are more for using after polishing, and what I need is paint prep/cleaner, whatever confusing different names are used.

I don't want to the product to be removing minor swirls etc, just to remove old wax and sealant, that is all.

Griot's paint prep is not sold in my country at all, but if nothing else exists or it is simply the best I can import it. Just the shipping is more than the product itself, so that was the problem.

Here's a few "chemicals" to consider:
•Kleanstrip
•Prep-Sol
•Wurth Clean Solve
•3M Inspection Spray
•Meguiar's D114 @1:4 dilution ratio

If you want:
Type "wax & grease removers" into your browser for more
of these types of dedicated LSP-removal-product choices.

Would something like the Blackfire coating prep really remove an LSP, or is it more designed to remove polishing oils after polish? Same with eraser, I think that is designed to remove polishing oils too, not strip an LSP.

I think Bob's examples are more in line with stripping an LSP.

Thanks. I'm also looking for something to strip LSP without polishing. I can cross those off my list.

Since Chemical Guys Bug and Tar Heavy Duty Car Wash Shampoo is not wax/sealant safe, will it strip the old LSP?

Rusroleum makes a wax and grease remover that could work if available. I only use it to pre-clean before sanding and painting. I get it at WalMart.

I don't think he was asking for a non abrasive polish either or claybar recommendations. Griot's Garage has a liquid spray on Paint Prep LSP remover and he's looking for something like that. Carpro Eraser recommendation 'may' do the trick. It is designed/intended to remove the polishing oils for a pre LSP smooth surface and wax removal may just happen to remove the wax too. Blackfire Paint Prep is a new product that may be spot on for your needs but I would read more into just to be on the safe side. Also a lot of people strip while washing using Chemical Guys Citrus Red a little more concentrated then usual or add a couple ounces of all purpose cleaner* to there maintenance wash soap.

*I know Pinnacle All Purpose and I think Blackfire lists that as one of its uses. SO I would just be careful/research which All Purpose Cleaner is safe for that because there could be plenty of unique formulas that aren't great for paint.
