Chicagoland Detail Day...pics and stories!

Sounds like a good time, we should see how many people would be in on a meet. Maybe get together at a forest preserve and have a BBQ while detailing. I know most of us have generators lol and water tanks. :) I know some good spots if interested.

The invite by you Paul to Indy is appreciated but the majority lives in the Chicagoland area, is there somewhere we could meet in the middle? I know you showed up from Indy last year and the guy from Iowa (sorry, forgot your screen name) who took a lot of great pics for us, so that's saying something. Maybe Ivan will host us again.....

The drive was worth a the fun and knowledge gained plus we had some good pizza.

I agree and would like to try the different machines again if they're made available because at some point I would like to take the next step from my 6" GG DA. The 1st machine I tried really beat me up and I think I worked the area too long and wore the paint off on an edge line in that hood. Because it was first time with a more powerful and aggressive machine, so in reality I should've done 4 section passes, stopped to wipe off the polish and inspect what I did. I'm not even sure which machine I used first but the 2nd machine it appeared I had did better and it wasn't as hard to use, again, not sure which machine that was but it was more raised and not as low profile and for me, it made useage more comfortable.

Whatever we end up doing I look forward to hangin' out and meeting noobs and the others I got to meet at our 1st get together.

I completely understand what you are saying. A Indy get together is just something I have been planning on in the back of my mind for a couple of years. The invitation is being offered to anyone willing to make the trip and locals alike. My shop is just a little under 30x40 so I was waiting for the weather to break so it would allow me to extend to include the outside space in front of the shop. So if anyone is interested stay tuned as I work out some kinks and try and put together something more concrete to offer.
 
About how far of a drive is that? I mean we'd have it on Sunday I'm assuming and most of us are off, so I'd just need to get up a little earlier if it ends up being in Indy.

I have none of that stuff but this makes me think, when we do this, we should bottle up some things others would like to try, kinda like free samples but "trade samples" with each other.

Welcome! These meets are for anyone to attend.
While I do detail friends and family's cars, I don't consider myself a pro. If you are looking for tips, this is the place to be!
