ok, lets hear some opinions
Do I get the Griots Garage DA or the Porter Cable 7424 XP?
I plan on using it for my general use including using it with the new Megs MF system
thanks for your opinions
matt
I been trying to figure out what does Megs MF system is?? I know MF is micro fiber towels but megs?? System???
Sorry to hijacked your thread
For using the Megs MF DA system it probably isnt going to matter. It does not need to the higher power to correct. I use my GG on aobut 3.75 for correction and 2.75 for finishing.ok, lets hear some opinions

great info gents, keep it coming!
another question, how decent is the factory backing plate? Will it work with all the various different pad systems out there? Again, I want to make sure it work with standard pads and the MF system
IMO the PCXP isn't that much of an upgrade to the older one, so with that said... GG6 for sure. you can use 6.5" pads with the 6" backing plate that it comes with, but i would purchase a 5" DA backing plate so you can use 5.5" pads as well...
ah, was not aware its a 6" plate. I agree, the 5" is the way to go. Wonder if they would swap it out if I ordered
I think the exact opposite. You *need* more power when the pad isn't spinning as fast when applying pressure. The MF system relies heavily on pressure. Make sense? For using the Megs MF DA system it probably isnt going to matter. It does not need to the higher power to correct. I use my GG on aobut 3.75 for correction and 2.75 for finishing.
You have been using it a lot more than I have, so, I would defer to your expertise on that. With that said, however, I did not feel like my GG was working all that hard with the MF system like it can sometimes with foam pads. I was usig moderate pressure. I did not feel like I had to really bear down on the MF cutting disc and D300 to get it to correct most of the RIDS and all of the swirls. I did have to work it prety hard with MF disc and M105 (far more drag than D300). I plan to try it out on my old PC this weekend to compare the two machines if I get time.I think the exact opposite. On another note, the Griot's DA is night and day better than the PCXP, IMO.

IF you can, I would think about keeping the old PC when you get your new GG. It is a great tool for spot repair and narrow areas like bumpers etc. I keep a 3.5in plate on mine and the 5.5 on my GG. That way I can switch to small pads without changing backing plates.rops: Yea i would go with the GG since it provides more power..My PC is so easy to stall out on lower speeds with a little bit of pressure. I have the original PC..I get frustrated with it..I am thinking of selling it and replacing it with the GG one just so it has a little more omph to keep spinning
