Last weekend I finally got to spend a couple hours in the garage with my new car - 2013 Civic Si.

I traded in the Mazda 3 about 6 weeks ago. So far I've put about 2500 very enjoyable miles on the Civic. I can honestly say that my face hurts from smiling every time I get out of the car. :D

While a complete write-up on what I did to the exterior will have to wait (some products used aren't even out yet :) ), I can show you guys a couple photos of my quick engine detail.

Being a new car, the engine wasn't filthy by any means, but it could definitely use some attention. That's exactly what I did with one of my favorite plastic and vinyl dressings - 1Z Einszett Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant Tiefenpfleger.

1Z Einszett Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant cleans, restores and protects all exterior vinyl and plastic components such as fenders, the front fascia, plastic trim, vinyl cabriolet tops, and rubber components such as tires, producing a temperature-resistant seal and a low-shine satin finish. Dust-resistant! 1Z Einszett Vinyl Rubber Care and Protectant retards the fading effects of UV rays to keep exterior rubber and vinyl looking like new.

(Iphone 4 photos).

I simply sprayed the product directly onto a Microfiber All Purpose & Wheel Detailing Towel and went to work!

I really like this particular product from 1Z; it cleans, restores (if faded), and protects. It gives more of a shine than 303 Aerospace Protectant (another popular engine dressing), and in my experience it tends to last longer too. The fact that it has cleaners in it is an added bonus.

I plan on regularly doing this so my engine never ends up looking like this: :wow:

As a Mazda 3 owner, this hurts, Nick...

lol, looks good! May have to check out 1z

Well done and nice ride!

Any car that can keep that smile on your face is a keeper.

Looking good Nick !!!! :dblthumb2::dblthumb2::dblthumb2:

Very cool! :props: Love my Honda's for sure!

Sorry! My Mazda 3 was a BLAST to drive, but I wanted something a little nicer on the inside (and faster). I had an Accord for 6 years, and put a TON of (abusive) miles on it. The car never left me stranded - that's when I became hooked on Hondas.

I considered the Mazda Speed3, VW GTI, Subaru BRZ, and the Ford Focus ST, but the Civic Si was the best all around package (cheapest too, except for the Mazda).

After I took it for a test drive, I was sold (literally, bought it right then and there).

Couldn't be happier. Im the MAN

Well done and nice ride!

You said it! It's no Camaro SS or Mustang GT, but it scoots. :)

Nice SI Nick! I love the wheels! Makes me miss my prelude! It's a Honda and you won't need it but best of luck with it anyhow!

Nice ride! The new Civic Si is truely a nice vehicle with great value. And 1Z Einszett products rock. Nothing in their line-up has failed to impress me.

Very nice ride! Haven't kept up with Hondas lately and didn't know the Si came in a four door. Looking to replace my Mazda 3 soon too.

my pops had a 98 accord that had over 300k on the clock before it was sold and while the exterior wasn't in the best of shape, it ran like a champ and all that was mainly done to it were just oil changes. Japanese technology when at it's best is pretty much unbeatable. congrats on the new ride :props: you got looks, some power and great mpg...

How well does 1Z Einszett Vinyl-Rubber Care work with faded trim?

Pretty good actually. It's not going to last as long as a dedicated trim restorer though. The key to is protect your trim with this product before it starts to fade and discolor.

I plan on running this one into the ground, so I hope it does me well!

Adding to my cart. Thanks for the great review and congrats on the new car.

Thanks - let us know what you think of it. :dblthumb2:

I agree. :)

My Accord was a 2001, and I finally got rid of it at 209,000 miles. While it still ran like a champ, it started to nickel and dime me so I knew it was time to go. Surprisingly, the interior was still like new - not a squeak or rattle to be found. Build quality on that generation was truly exceptional.

I hope the Civic treats me as well as the Accord did. :D

Congrats on the new car! Nice write up too.

nick, how is she treating you so far? btw, is window tint in the future?

Congrats on the new car. I really like the new look of the new Civics.

Thanks fellas!

So far so good! I've racked up 3500 miles, and I'm averaging about 26.5 mpg (my calculations - mixed driving).

Sometimes I take the long way home just because I enjoy driving the car so much. :dblthumb2:

I've been meaning to pop the hood to see how well the 1Z is holding up. I'll try to make a point of doing that on my lunch break today.
