Hey there my AG friends. I have a question regarding the use of an IPA wipedown on Cquartz after a rinseless wash. I have coated my dad's Mercedes-Benz E320 with regular Cquartz and have been mostly washing it with ONR. I know it leaves behind gloss enhancers which do streak on black paint when it hits the sun. I had previously used Pinnacle Crystal Mist to help clean that up but, it sometimes leaves its own streaks which are hard to buff off. I have read that some people use IPA to clean off coatings to bring back the beading qualities.

My question to everyone is, how often can you use IPA to clean off Cquartz or other coatings in general? Can I use it after every time I do a rinseless wash? I mixed my IPA at about 13%.

My next question is if I apply CarPro Reload to it, can I do regular rinseless washes on it without having streaks from the gloss enhancers in it? I try to avoid two bucket washes because our cars don't see the road much so it would be a waste of water for me.

Thanks to all of you and Merry Christmas!

I am pretty sure I pa doesn't affect the coatings whatsoever, but I am not 100% sure about that. Id suggest going with Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer following your ONR washes, as that's what I do and have had prefect results. SBSD is alsoa great topper to coatings and leavesa very hydrophobic layer on top a coating incase of bird dropping etc.

Can you use IPA? Yes. Would I? No.

Having done a full 2+ year test and review on CQ, I can say that you should have no problem using ONR on CQ. If you are getting streaking you are doing something wrong. Usually if you are getting streaking you are using to much ONR or not buffing it dry fully.

I do agree with Shane. Meguiars Rinse Free Express Wash is optimal if you want to maintain the CQ without any added polymers. Also with using this works well with reload. ReLoad might actually help remove the streaking you are getting, if applied after the wash.

Your best bet though is to do a ful 2BW using a good soap like Meg's Hyperwash.

Check your dilution ratio. Also try after using ONR doing a light buff with another microfiber, very light pressure just to remove any existing residue. I've found this to help.
