Getting ready to use Ceri glass on a 2006 Chevy Silverado. How do you know if glass is coated. After polishing should MF used to wipe be discarded?

What do you mean how do you know?

And depending on the coating I'll use and then discard the microfiber towel.

CarPro says not to use on coated glass, I believe some manufacturers have a coating on top of glass which would harmed by Ceriglass product. I was concerned that MF tow els might be contaminated by wiping off residue from glass polish. Sorry just a newbie

Chances are a 2006 Silverado isn't going to have coated glass. The "don't use on coated glass" I believe is referring to glass that has been coated with one of their glass coatings.

OP...You're correct:
There are some manufacturers of OEM auto-glass that are applying different (proto)types of 'Coatings' to promote [IMO: alleged] "self-cleaning" abilities, among other atypical functions.

Products containing cerium-oxide would more than likely compromise any such auto-glass 'Coatings'.

I think I will clay, polish with PBL surface cleansing polish, hopefully this will be clean enough for PBL Glass Coating. Thanks for help.

When you're done polishing do either an IPA wipe down or use a product like car pro eraser to remove any oils and help the coating bond.

As Bob noted, they are referring to manufacturer-applied coatings. At one point Lexus was applying a coating to the driver's window and perhaps at some point to the windshield also--this was a "permanent" water-shedding coating.

I think there was so much confusion etc. about it that they stopped doing it (it was only on certain models, anyway). To the OP, there is about 0% chance your Silverado has a factory coating on it--check your owner's manual!
