Coated my tires today and WOW,

Based on this thread I decided to pick the kit up. Up until now I have been giving the tires a quick scrub and using a spray on dressing. I wanted to make sure the coating could get a good bond and it took at least 6 trips around the car to get them really clean. The TW tire cleaner worked pretty good but I used most of it up. The coating turned out good but I'm not a fan of the applicator. I picked up a couple of these Carrand Brush & Shine Tire Dressing Applicators, tire brush, tire shine applicator and will give one a try next time.

I like the natural look so one coating was perfect. Thanks to everyone who recommended this!

What don't you like about the applicator? I ask because of the its design, it holds the product in there, although at first it can run off. I fix this, you need to work the coating into the applicator, with the glove on, ofcoarse:props:

I'm curious to see if the coating would even grab onto the brush considering the coating is a very thin liquid. I have not had any issues with the provided applicator.

The tire is part of the problem. They are Goodyear Eagle F1s and have a sidewall rim flange on them to help them protect the wheels. The applicator works fine except I had a hard time getting under the flange at the bottom of the tire with it. I suppose I could run the car on to some 1x6 scraps of wood to get the tires off the ground a bit. It would also make cleaning the bottom of the tire easier and help avoid bloody knuckles.

I was wondering about that also. I may give one a try next time and see how it works.

I have a set of 2x10 pressure treated boards tapered on the ends. I found the 2x lumber gets the tires high enough for comfortable cleaning and coating. The 1x that I tried first was still a little low as it only got the tires 3/4" off of the concrete.

Thanks for the tip!

I wrapped an old low knap MF towel (glass towel) around a wood block in order to make towel flat so I would only be touching the top surface of the letters. It was a scrap piece of 2x2 about 6" long. I applied IPA to the cloth and wiped. It worked very well and did not mess up the rest of the coating.
Thank-you Sir, :xyxthumbs:I coated my tires today with the raised white lettering and your advise worked awesome and it also takes off the little bit of residue on the rim too.

You are welcome. Glad I could help. Post a pic if you can.

I just used TW Endura Tire Coat in my tires. I like this coating because you can easily control the shine of your tires. Pics below, and I apoloize for the low quality pics, these were captured on my phone.

First pic is my tires cleaned with a degreaser and the endura tire cleaner. Second pic is the final "shine" for my tires.

Welcome Duff and keep us posted over the next couple weeks. Simple soap and water will clean the tires or rinseless wash if you use that📣

Two coats applied to my parents' Audi A6. No problems applying to the tires which are Pirelli Cinturato P7.

Tires were prepped using Adam's APC.

I did my sisters 4 year old Contis about 4 weeks ago.
Cleaned good with ZEP industrial purple and Megs D143 followed by only 2 coats and no follow ups.
Love this stuff even in a fuzzy picture they shine + they are dirty

I applied ONE fresh coat of TW tire coating today after about a month since doing it last, I think. Last year when I first tried this I would reapply about once a month to maintain the look I like. I also feel this helps to build up a good base and IMO keep them looking their best, longer.

Just a note, this may have been said but make sure the wheels and tires are completely dry before applying.

I had my in-laws car while get it ready to sell. I had scrubbed the tires clean but did not coat. Then the next day I was prepping the trim for the same brand coating. I had scrubbed trim with APC and rinsed, and let dry, but didn't think about the fact that I had also got the wheels and tires wet during the process. A little bit later I coated the tires and all looked well. Needed to run out to the store so I took their car because I had left mine at their house. Looked at the tires once I parked and did not look good. There must have been some water sitting around the lip between the tire and rim. When I got back I pulled back up on my 2x6 blocks and recoated and turned out fine.

I like this coating so far, but the applicator doesn't last long. I've done two sets with two coats and the applicator is done. I will be using a cut up yellow/orange wash sponge like I have been using for the trim coating. The old wash sponge works well for the trim coating if anyone wanted to know.

Good idea with the sponge👍

So do we think this product is getting discontinued like the rinseless wash? It's still on the TW website, and I saw it in Wal-Mart yesterday, but Amazon shows it as "usually ships in 3-5 weeks" even though it was in stock yesterday (although it was low stock with "more on the way").

I'm going to say NO. I say this because a tire dressing, generic term for the general public, is always going to be easier to use and understand. It simply applies like any other product whereas the RW is "out of the box" in how you go about using it.

Oreillys had it on sale for 12.99 a couple weeks ago, so I grabbed one.
I am going to buy another couple to have on hand....just in case.

It would be great if they sold just the dressing and sponge.
The only time I use the spray cleaner is to clean my hands when I'm working on my car. The cleaner is really lightweight.

Applicator issues.

Has anyone found any other type of applicator that works with this product? I have two vehicles that I use it on and both have a knurled finish on the tire and it just shreds the applicator. I'm still on my first kit but I am on my second applicator from another kit. I am trying to dab it on BUT it just does not go on fast that way.

I've tried two other applicators that I have on hand and both did not work because the product is very thin. One does not absorb and the other just drinks it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
