Coated my tires today and WOW,

I agree that TAC Tire coating isn't much of a coating. I do see it as more of a dressing as well. Nevertheless, I think it's a wonderful dressing even though it lasts only two to three weeks at best. This in my opinion is slightly worse than Gyeon Tire which I believe is sold as a coating. Honestly, the most durable coating I've ever used is Turtle Wax.

Did you get 2-3 weeks out of TAC on your 3 seasons of winter tires? I'm not the best about durability because like I've said before, I freshen up about every 3 weeks anyways.

Kevin, have you ever tried Black Pearl?

Thanks y'all, for making me realize the end is near.

I just ordered 2 more from Ebay for $16 each.

I don't want to deal with a new tire product for awhile. I sure don't want to try and scrub the TW off for a new product application.
I looked at my winter wheels and they could easily go without a coat before mounting. No doubt I will do it anyway.

Never used it on my winter tires. Mostly my wife's tires. I neglect her tires, and I think the stuff lasts a couple of weeks or so.

Never used black pearl. Good stuff?

@spazzz,

Coat 'em. :)

I usually don't mount mine until November when we're consistently below 50, but I'm think in should at least bring them off the shelf now while it's still warm, wash them and give them the TW treatment.

I washed them the day I took them off.
I used D143 and scrubbed them twice with it. They are still shiny.

I have 1 tire leaning against the couch in the basement to remind me to Gloss Coat the wheels again. After that I will coat them.

Very similar to TW but they have 4 different finishes available and it's all the company makes. Don't worry about the roller either, I've used a foam applicator with zero issues.

Looks pretty good - pretty pricey too! Got a couple of bottles of TW to finish. ;)

Guess I'll be buying some for the summer tires. What versions do you guys like?

I was given the version that has the black tint in it, kinda like TW and I like it. Maybe we can buy the larger bottle and split the cost of it Kevin?

Maybe they can cut you a deal if you tell them you don't want the roller and tray. Cut the cost in half without the high tech applicator.

I must say the matte tinted does look very nice.

The roller actually lays it down very well. A bag of extra rollers is like $5. Also works good on trim.

Yeah the roller isn't a negative nor is it needed. I feel if people give this product a chance it's game, set, match!

There is a new tire coating on the market, I'm going to be buying it and posting a picture of it and doing a review so keep your eyes open. By the way it is from a manufacturer that sells products here on auto geek it's just not on auto geek yet.

My wife got new tires and I cleaned and scrubbed them down this afternoon. I was going to wait a couple weeks before I did this but what the hell. The first pic is the d/s and is a new tire coating (balm) as it's called and I can't say publicly what it is but it will soon be here and is from a big company which sells products here (drop me a PM). The p/s tire is coated with TAC systems tire coating, a brand I hope ends up here!

I applied 2x's, leaving 10 mins in between and her car isn't going anywhere till tomorrow morning, plenty of time to cure for sure. It's about 55 degrees down here in the garage, so not too bad here but outside sucks right now, cold November rain...Axl

As you can see the d/s is a bit more glossy and that product is a thick, milky consistency, spreads well and finish is controllable and DOESN'T SLING!

The p/s has a more matte finish. When I apply this product I use a small 2 ounce metal spray bottle, it's what I have and I mist it into the applicator because it's very watery, completely different from the other product.

I've been using both products for quite some time and find the finish of both of them really nice and durability good too. On my own car I refresh about every 2-3 weeks but since I have it on my wife's car that isn't going to be the case, so durability tests will be more true and "real world", trust me

Looking forward to seeing how this goes but keep in mind these are brand new tires, they probably will be outgassing over the next couple weeks or so, plus it's only going to get colder, snowy and salty. I'm sure a single coat refresh will happen but pics before that will be posted and evaluated, thanks for looking

With a decent tire coating laid down I topped my 3 season tires for the last time this year and what I used was something a little different. What you see here is Griot's Black Shine. It's a single coat and very little applied to the applicator. Yes the shine is on the higher side but in person it's not too bad. This product doesn't sling and actually "tones down" over a couple days and when it does I will give it a single swipe to even it up.

For those who don't want a tire coating and want something that doesn't sling, this is a great product by a great company

Here's the tire after a couple days, rained on and tire cleaner sprayed on, rinsed off and wiped. I think this product will keep people happy, just have to endure the gloss initially but it always tones down over a day or two and looks like this even after a cleaning.

I thoroughly enjoyed AMMO Mud but the shipping on a bottle is ridiculous. I borrowed (and never gave back) the bottle my friend bought and it lasted me 4ish years. It lasted a while, didnt sling and the gel was a nice consistency that led itself to being worked in the tire nicely. It started off wet but dried and after a day or so it looked perfect.

I just bought gyeon tire and will see how that ends up lasting. It sprays a bit strange out of the sprayer and I find it doesnt spread as easily as I would have liked. It seems to be lasting though, I havent touched my tires in 2 or 3 weeks. The griots looks tempting though. Ill see how I feel when my gyeon runs low.

I used to like hyper dressing at 2 or 3:1 but if I bought that gallon it would literally last me forever.
