Coated my tires today and WOW,

I had the TW on my tires now for atleast a month or longer, and noticed thE other day they were looking a bit dull looked at it when I got home and appeared that the coating was starting to flake and look blotchy so used the tire cleaner that comes in the kit and scrub them good it all came off after doing each tire three times as well as using some purple power on them... Might go back to the 303 or a water based dressing ?.
 
The non aerosol TW tire coating doesn't flake off, it does dimish after a month but hasn't turned brown in my useage.

Well .... Sitting here at Toyota dealership buying a new tire because I ran over another friggin nail and it punctured the side wall.

Looks like I'll be recoating my wheels tomorrow.

Gawd, I hate commuting in this desert. Sucks
 
Not sure if it was this thread or the other one about long lasting tire coatings but it was brought up about the Black Magic Bleache-White "new and improved" not being so good. Infact there was a video of it not working at all, well, I'm here to show you guys the REAL proof, right here, right now:

I will say I used an old ECO TOUCH spray bottle to spray it on and ONE spray around and they turned brown IMMEDIATELY! In the picture I also used Meg's DUB wheel cleaner but I found out the chrome wheels were infact chrome plated plastic wheel covers, so it never "bled".

I'm thinking that when the "average" AG'er uses a tire cleaner it doesn't turn brown because we take care of our own, use it on another mortals car though, different story!

One size larger than the ones on my car! Mine are pushing the wheel arch lips at 195/40-ZR16; any larger and I'd need the BRABUS WideStar rear fender kit. Largest size I've seen on my gen car is 205/45-16 front and 235/35-17 rear.

But yeah, lookin' good!

I didn't even get through one tire before the applicator started shredding a little. It's difficult to soak into the nooks and crannies. I gave up on the applicator and used one of those thin round yellow applicators

The new Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 snow tires have been installed and coated, 3x's, final coat was applied this morning before I went into work.

Here's the pic and now let the WINTER TESTING begin!

Same as stock Abarth sizes? Or did you go narrow, WRC-style?

ETA: many/most around here that have space keep winters on separate rims for easier/cheaper seasonal swaps. I know many people with +1 or +2 factory wheel sets that go back to base model sizes or even narrower for winter, if their model's brakes can fit them.

My summers are 195/40-16 on 16x7J while my winters are 185/55-15 on 15x6Js. Stock for this car are 145/70-15 front and 175/55-15 rear on 4 and 5" rims. Yes, you read that right. And I know guys who live in snow country who run on four fronts in winter (with spacers in the rear to fix the offset) and they never ever get stuck. For me, dry traction is important in winter (remember, clear roads 95% of the winter) so I went up to a slightly wider size that I could also rotate front to back.
 
Cleaned my Michelin x ice 2 on our cars and coated yesterday it snowed yesterday so they have seen snow already

I only did two coats on each car shouldn't be a problem to last IMO
 
I would've went with a narrower size if available but yeah, its OEM size, 205/40/17's. I may keep the snows on the stockers and get another set of wheels for the summer along with 3 seasons, not sure yet. Because of goofy bolt pattern, 4 x 98, wheels are harder to come by but there's some out there and ofcoarse there are some out there that are $$$$$$ too!

I want snow tires and wheels for my car, but 17s are actually cheaper than 16s. Go for performance or price? Also, I hope TW can hold up to good ole' NJ winters.

Performance for sure, no doubt about it. Remember this, quality doesn't cost, it pays! Surely you don't wanna replace a front clip and use your deductable! These are my first set of Blizzaks, so I don't know too much about them other than they're top of mind when it comes to snow tires:thumbup:

I'll have the same winter tires either way, but 17s will give me an extra 10mm of width. Either way, it will be better than my 225/40/18 all seasons.
 
Extra tread width/larger contact patch is good for dry (or at least clear) road conditions. Narrower cross-section is better for traction in the deep stuff. Each has its trade-offs in opposite conditions, so you have to decide what's better for you.

I had a dude on another forum argue with me that narrower is always better in winter, and cited how rally cars and snow plows always have taller, skinnier tires. My position was that it's always conditions-dependent. Our city gets a LOT of snow. But we spend a LOT of money to clear the streets, so I end up driving on bare roads pretty much the entire winter. Narrower tires would really help those two or three days a winter that I'm out before the plows can catch up. Oh, and I told him I'm not a rally driver.
 
For those that just coated their tires, what was the ambient temp? I'll be swapping in my winters this weekend and thinking of coating them but the temps here have been hovering at the 40s. What do you guys think?
