I am considering getting the current BOGO Cobra MF. However, I am worried about the linting people have talked about. Anyone that has these or has used them, PLEASE chime in so I can decide. I need some better Microfiber than what I currently have... Any info on these would be GREAT!

for me anything over 500grams is just to fluffy and doesnt work well..i have the 600 gram ones and there nice and fluffy but not good for removing waxes..onlyq/dss

As pointed out, these are too fluffy for wax removal and not absorbant enough for waterless wash-type products or ONR. They're very nice for spray waxes and QDs, perfect for Opti Seal and other final wipe products. I've experienced no linting after numerous washes. YMMV.

Sorry for the double post, ISP messed up.

No problemo... I moved the other two posts to the Moderator's forum...

As for linting, most fluffy towels of any type will experience some type of linting at some point in their life cycle because they are vast collection of loose, individual fibers. That said I haven't noticed any problem worth complaining about for either the Cobra Deluxe Jr. 600 or the Cobra Supreme 530 Microfiber Towel which I use a lot of in videos, articles and classes.

Here's some more Microfiber Polishing Towels with a fluffy nap, I'll take some pictures of all of them later tonight when my background shows up...

A reliable microfiber towel that works well for just about anything is our Cobra Indigo Microfiber Towel. This is microfiber towel we stock the Studio with for a number of reasons, all positive.

If you're building up a collection of microfiber towels then get about a dozen of these towels. Because they are a weave style the don't lint and if you have a dozen towels you have enough to make a small wash load with nothing but microfiber towels as you shouldn't wash microfiber towels with other laundry garments.

Here's a couple of article on microfiber towels...

Right now we're out of inventory of our normal Cobra Arctic White Edgeless Microfiber Polishing Cloth, which is a flat weave microfiber towel and in it's place we're using a new white microfiber towel that has a short nap on one side and a medium nap on the other side and the edges are sewn with some piping, you can see pictures of it in this thread,

We are not going to keep this in stock for so if you want some you need to order ASAP and either make a note in your order or call directly at 1-800-869-3011 and ask the the towel Mike talked about. I like them so far as pretty good all purpose microfiber towel.

:)

I think they're some of the best towels we sell, personally. They have a very short nap on one side, and a fluffy nap on the other...so I don't know why you guys are having trouble removing polishes. They work great for me for just about anything.

i have had great success with them. sure not for polishes but great for everything else. these are my favorite towels and i dont let them get near customers cars, just for my baby. i have noticed no linting with these but some with the green shamrocks which are so fluffy i almost expected it but still use them for the last ultra slow wipedown of lsp. my main go go towels is the 530 in gray or off blue (maybe some other companies version) A GREAT all around towel. by the way my addition to towels is worse than my addition to wax. hope all this helps

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I am mainly looking for a towel for QDing. I currently only have a stock of about 17 towels (12 GP towels from SMP, 2 Cobra HD WWs, and 3 doorjab/interior/ect towels). I think I will grab a set of these for maintence and start using these 12 I have for wax/polish removal.

I doubt these are scratching, I just want some new/better towels to keep that perfect polished finish perfect. Would rather not use the same towels I buff M105 off with of QDing between details ya know?

I think they work just fine at removing wax/polish. I have noticed some linting coming from them but nothing too bad.

Thanks for your help. I ordered a set of the Jr 600s on BOGO. Hopefully this will alleviate some of my swirl problems since I will only use these for light QDing between full details. I think part of my problem is cross-contamination from using 12 towels for everything from polish, wax, sealant, and QDing. It is really annoying to spend 20 +/- hours with M150, M205, PO 84RD, and Blackfire Sealant to see swirls a month later.

Also ordered a Grit Guard and some FK #425. I think the grit guard will help with my swirls coming from washes as well.

If you are having that big of a problem with swirls then you really need to be looking into your wash method. The grit guard is a good start. You should check out Mikes videos on how to wash a car.

The 600 is a great towel especially for spray products. Wash and store properly and you should see no appreciable linting.

Proper Washing and Drying Techniques

My normal method:

  1. Rinse wheels (one at a time)
  2. Spray down with meg's APC 4:1
  3. Agitate with brush
  4. Rinse clean
  5. Rinse Car from top to bottom
  6. Spray one body panel at a time with a Foam gun (Meg's Gold Class)
  7. Wipe down with Sheepskin Mitt (Optimum Soap)
  8. Dip mitt into rinse bucket
  9. Repeate steps 6-8 until the whole car has been washed
  10. Rinse
  11. Sheeting method rinse
  12. Blow dry
  13. Blotting method with WW (normally there is hardly any water left, so I do this instead of wiping w/ QD)
  14. Spray detail if I have the time
Anything wrong with that?

No. :props:

Maybe the swirls are not coming from the wash then. I am using a wash mitt from Detailed Image. It seems kinda rough, but when the fibers are saturated with soap they loosen up.

Then again I could of just not have removed all the swirls from polishing. Regardless, the new MF for QDing and Grit Guard should help. Just gonna keep adding and adding to the collection haha.
