Regarding this post:

We just heard back from our manufacturer regarding the Cobra Indigo towels and have resolved this on future shipments to us.

This was a result of hot wire cutting process rather than the laser cut process that we rely on to make the edge on the Cobra Indigo towels soft and paintwork safe. Max has authorized me personally to take care of anyone that has these towels with the hot wire cut edges so just send me a PM with your order/contact information and I will be happy to be of service.

These towels can still be used as all purpose towels for wiping glass, leather, vinyl, rubber, wheel wells etc. Later today the pricing will be adjusted to close out the current inventory.

The current inventory of Indigo towels have been marked down at clearance pricing. The edges aren't cut properly but the fabric material is still premium. We added a 12 pack option for more savings.

Since the Indigo is one of our premium towels, we included it with all of the Pinnacle kits and also when your purchase Pinnacle Souveran. Effective immediately, until we receive Indigo inventory with the correct edges, we will be including our 16x16 Cobra Gold Plush microfiber towel with Pinnacle kits and with Souveran. We will be updating the photos and adjusting these kits today as well.

We are continuing to work with our manufacturer to ensure that future shipments of Cobra Indigo towels are to our exact specifications as we insist on the highest quality for our customers.

These are nice Towels, I have about 6 of them, some are at least 2 years old and still absorb nicely, plus if you want you can use them to buff with also.......my 2 cents !!

The gold plush ones are AMAZING great and up there with some of the other top quality towels....have about 18 of them and all are great!

Dwayne,

Can people cut the edges off the hot wire cut towels to remove the hard edges without the towels unraveling when washed? I'd guess that 1/4" all the way around would do it easily.

At least the fielded and discounted inventory could be made more usable by the end user with minimum effort. They get premium fabric at a potentially low price, and use sissors or a straight edge and exacto knife to make them fully functional with clean soft edges.

Not to be negative, but the store page showing the closeout price on these towels doesn't say anything about the edge defect, but it sure says a lot about the towel being soft, safe, and scratch-free.

Seems to me that you should show the Indigo as out of stock and create a separate page for the "blems" which would detail the reason for the closeout price.

I'd be interested to know this as well. I've got some hot-wire cut MFs that are otherwise primo where only the corners occasionally have a bad edge. I fold the edges in on themselves and am real careful if I use them on painted doorjambs etc.

Since the product description for the Indigos repeatedly touts "NO SCRATCHES" I'm wondering if some kind of notation ought to be made on the closeouts so the unaware don't get a surprise...

I agree with you.

Maybe to some people don't know any better?

I do agree with you, though.

Dwayne, AG really should note that these are blems since someone may buy them not aware of the issue.

You guys are pretty fanatical about car care and I'm sure that you would hate for someone to damage their car because it was not disclosed.

Buuuuuttt.... major kudos for running this down and taking care of it in, what, 24 hours?? Super customer service, Dwayne.

Another example of why I spend so much time and money at Autogeek.

I think an easy solution would be for AG to cut the edges with one of those papers cutter they used to have in high school.

sell them at the closeout price , and if they unravel later down the road in there life, people cant complain much as the price of them is incredibly low for the fabric material and weave.

sounds like win/win.

I think with the really tight weave of these towels, they might hold up for quite a bit longer than we think through wash's.

if anyone already has the towels that are blems, imo, cut the edge , as its far safer than you trying to fold them up to avoid that edge. if the edge is cut with a scissor , they are completely paint safe imo.

Dwayne,

Funny thing is that I returned all mine last year to Meghan for this reason. Then I was told that you said to Meghan it was my fault for washing them in too hot of water(which I always wash in warm not hot). Good to know now!!! These scratch the crap out of my hood with the hard edge.

you could wash MF in boiling water if you wanted. the melting point of polyester is like 500 degrees F. (250C)

I know that. That was the reason I got when I got replacements for all mine. He said it was my fault, but I don't use hot water. Funny thing is, when I sent samples for Meghan to look at. I included a brand new one out of my souveran box. So, I know hot water wasn't the case. Not trying to throw gas on the fire. Just gets irritating when people tell you something is your fault when it is not. This could've been resolved over a year ago.

There is no way that this has been happening continuously for a whole year. I have Indigo towels from 4 months ago and also 11 months ago that are great. I highly doubt that with Autogeek's volume this would go on and you would have said something before now.

Not saying that you didn't get a bad batch or that you didn't heat them up in a dryer but it sounds like you received replacements and they suggested what may have caused the problem. By replacing the towels I think they were showing goodwill to you.
I'm not saying Meghan didn't go above and beyond, she did as always. Samples were sent and they did see the problem. Again a new towel was included with 2 barely used ones. This did start happening last year! Maybe it started out randomly then progressed. Just stating facts man.:xyxthumbs: You ran your fingers across all edges?

For anyone who purchased one of the kits above and received the defective towels, would they be entitled to a replacement as well? I ask because I bought the clay kit on New Year's Day and the bad indigos were included in the shipment.
