So I decided to wash the Civic tonight... it had a coat of DP Policoat from 1-1/2 weeks ago, got rained on, then washed, then topped with OCW. It got rained on again and was washed once more, after which I threw a coat of 845 using my PC. It rained YET AGAIN yesterday, so then I washed it tonight. The beading in the previous washes mentioned (or any other time for that matter) don't even come close to tonight... so I know the difference was indeed 845, not DP Poli or OCW.

Let me just say, 845 blew me away after tonight. I've used MANY LSP's...both sealants and nuba's. The most impressive beading I've seen has to be 845. I don't think any of my other LSP's come close. Probably Menzerna PowerLock... but man, 845 is unreal. My mouth was mostly open in awe while I was rinsing the car (pre-wash rinse and final rinse). The water just seemed to shatter to these tiny beads and could not cling on. I have never seen anything like it. After I "sheet-rinsed" the car, I barely had to use my MF to dry. I wish I took pics before I dried the car or while I was rinsing it, but I was only able to take pics after I was done, before it got dark.

Not only was I impressed with the sheeting and how well it held up after a wash (usually after washing, the beading/sheeting effect is reduced dramatically), I think 845 has a very nice "glow" to it. I still don't think it's in the same league as Souveran, but man, if 845 lives up to the DURABILITY others have hyped about, I may prefer using this as a base rather than a sealant. Can others attest to 845's incredible beading or durability?

Here are some pics after the wash tonight... I think it rivals any other nuba/sealant out there... (except Souveran of course, my all time fave). Note that I dried the car with NO AID of any spray wax like OCW or AW. Just 1 MF that barely got wet. I swear I have never seen a car this "dry" after sheeting other than tonight.

yeah beading is top notch. i have gotten 4-6 months out of it even in a michigan winter. i think as long as you start with a clean surface you are good to go. maybe thats where some others durability problems have come from? if you notice any i would strip the protection you currently have on there (the dp and ocw) and try it again and see if there's a difference.
 
tried to get a sample of it in my last order but they are out...some day I'll get a chance to try it. Lots of great reviews of the 845.
 
I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. 845 is great stuff. Couldn't find it anywhere until I found it on Autogeeks. :iagree: You can't beat it!! For the price, it's the best.
 
Collinite 845 is by fay the biggest bang for the buck, period! I've been using it for a while now and as long as I put it on in micro thin coats it's a breeze to buff once it hazes over. As far as brilliance, longevity and beading, I'll give it a 10....:props:
 
I use Collinite 845 too and love it. Definitely use it as part of my winter prep. I agree w/ BobbyG.....biggest bang for your buck.

Being a paste, 915 is a bit more work applying and removing and 915 is touted as having slightly more longevity. 845 has been called a "bright" wax, it's actually a hybrid sealant/wax and gives more of a sealant-type bright shine. 915 is touted as having more of a carnauba glow.

My DD is white and the bright shine that 845 imparts sets apart lighter colors, IMO. I've used 915 on darker colors and liked that look as well. I've layered 915 on top of 845 and personally couldn't tell much difference in looks with my non-discerning eye. I find 845 stays slicker longer and seems to repel dirt better and longer. After driving a white vehicle in the rain for a few days with a fresh coat of 845 it doesn't even appear dirty. I can't say the same for 915.

As mentioned previously, 845 is the best bang for the buck, IMO. 14 bucks for a bottle that seems to last forever. 915 retails for around 30 bucks.

YEP! Collinite waxes are durable, long lasting and offer great protection. Just this week I had time to detail my f150 supercrew 4X4 in bright red with the chrome package. I polished with Menzerna Final Polish, Cleaned and sealed with KAIO X 2, 1 coat of KSG then topped with Collinite 476. The look is great and slick as a baby's butt. After I was finished I unexpectedly had to make a 240 round trip to pick someone up at the airport and it POURED RAIN for about half the trip. Driving down Interstate 85 at about 70 the hood was not even wet it seemed. The next morning in looking it over, there was some discolored areas where the road spray, dried but other than those areas of the hood it looked like I had just finished.
 
I agree with all your posts above. It is a breeze to remove as long as I do about 2/3 panels at a time... I remove the 1st panel once done applying on the 3rd.

I was so impressed with the Civic using 845, I went and applied 845 on the G, followed by a coat of Souveran. In the first pic look at that rear wheel fender... the combo of 845/Souveran makes it looking dripping wet.

I have used 915 and 845 for awhile... I have costumers that ask for them specifically. One car I get to see often is a black avalon with DP Policoat topped 12 hours later with 915 and even dirty it looks stunning... this was a knock out combo that is looking very good 4 months later... I have not checked the beeding as it is a coworkers car.

to each their own... I think the super tight beeding on 845 starts to diminish faster then 915 though...

Maybe this winter I will do 1/2 my hood with 845 only and the other 1/2 with 915 and try to compare them in the spring :)
 
The civic looks stunning.845 is definitely a a shinning star that is under rated.

Yes, the civic had a base DP policoat as well, then 845. That combo is pretty impressive.

As far as 845 not lasting as long as 915, I completely agree. I have read (and heard) from folks that that is indeed the case. In fact, I spoke with the folks at Collinite for their take on it. 915 (rebadged 476) and 476 are supposed to last slightly longer than 845. However, since 845 is so easy to work with using my PC, I would gladly take that exchange.

Thank you! I am definitely adding this to my arsenal of products. What's funny is, the Civic is our 9 year old DD, so before anything touches my G, I always test them on the Civic first :)

IW845 is my goto winter wax. I should use it all year, but like many want to experiment with different waxes/sealants during the warm months. This past winter (on my well worn 2001 Mitsubishi Mirage s/s red paint). I clayed/light polish/PB' Black Hole and then IW845. It lasted from October until early March (using beading and not having the s/s paint oxidize as my gauge). I do think that if you start with a properly clean surface, you will have great durability. I do hate to bottle , but the product exceeds my expectations. (I was even worried about compatibility with the PB's Black Hole and experienced no issues).

WOW... Seriously? That's how well it STILL beads after FIVE months of winter? No frickin' way. How many coats did you put on? And during winter, did you wash the car occasionally/often using an auto wash or wash bay? And it STILL held up?

Yes, I too like to experiment all year with diff't products. I can never settle on "one" wax. I have about 20 high quality LSP's I have purchased from AG... some not even used yet. So many waxes, so little time. However, for winter, 845 might be my go to... perhaps 476 underneath first.

As far as the bottle, the bottle is fine... it's the top that sucks. I have since then replaced it with the top from an old Pinnacle cleansing lotion bottle. Works fine now.

And lastly, in that G picture in the previous page, I used PB Black Hole before that as well... no compatibility issues... in fact, looks even better.
