Considering a DIY Custom Paint Job on Mobile Van?

I have heard bad things about the new formula for dp epoxy. Many people say that it will come right off with thinner. It may very well be great stuff though. I used SPI epoxy on my last project and was very satisfied. You can do you body work first or over top of it. If you miss your recoat times, all you have to do is go over it with a scuff pad. If you are wanting to avoid a lot of headache, you are going to need a lot more then just a water trap on the compressor for shooting color and clear. Compressors get hot and make a tone of water. A typical setup would probably consist of 50-75 ft of hard line at varying angles with multiple water drops and filters. The air has to have the room and time to cool for the moisture to leave. There is a lot to a good paint job and materials can be expensive. Go to your local jobber, they can usualy be very helpful with what you will need. Good Luck.

Note on PPG -DP primer, around 7 years ago PPG was forced to remove lead from this product. This was due to government regulations. Since then it is LFDP. I have used the old DP for 20+ years and never had a problem with rust thru from the back side and never had any paint lifting problems and I do mean NEVER. Since the change over, even PPG class instructors, have told us,yes it's not as good as the lead formula, but I have now been using the Lead Free with fantastic results. I am more into restoring cars, side hobby, for about 25years, IMO the stuff works. Don't know much about other products since I am certified with PPG to use their products and provide my customers with a Life Time warranty on my work. Good Luck with the project.
