Convince me to wash my car with rain in sight

I have washed my car when I know its going to rain if it was dirty already because one rain wont dirty the car to terribly as long as its not driven in the rain. I to have also began washing my car and had it start raining either during the drying phase or after :(
 
I know my neighbors think I'm nuts. I smoke food on the grill when it's snowing :) always cooking out in the cold... it snowed and my car still looks good after digging it out and cleaning the snow off the glass. I let it melt off the paint. I figure brushing it off, isn't a good idea.

Winter should never get in the way of grilling.

Depending upon the density and amount of snow, I've cleared my car with a leaf blower. Crazy looks? You bet.

lol, I agree. ooh that gives me a reason to bust out the gas blower.. thanks lol. That should certify me as insane :) Gives me a reason to burn some gas instead of having it sit until Spring.

Well I have somewhat of a different philosophy...

Firstly, I have washed my own car in the rain before, and have even done so knowing rain is coming, however.... and here is the rub for me....

I will not wash the car unless I HAVE to.... what I mean by this is that, despite all the best intentions and using pre-wash foam cannon + 2bm etc, there is still a chance that the washing process will inflict swirls, and so to wash for the sake of washing is to my mind, taking a chance of instilling swirl marks into the paint for the sake of it....

But, if you need to wash to then top up LSP before the next snow, and it happens to be raining, then you have to soldier on and get the job done, rain or not.

But if for example I knew the LSP was still 'in-tact' and the car had surface dirt on it, and I knew it would be raining for the next few days, I would rather just live with it, and wash once the rain is done.... especially on a daily driven car.

As long as nobody touched the dirt paint (which my wife and kids know not to do:rulez: :laughing:
 
eventhough i'm only 17... hahahah! i like washing my car and sealing and waxing it with layers days before it rains! hahaha ! it beads like crazy and while everyone's car is dry because the sun baked it onto the paint for potential water spots! mine is the only one that has water sitting on it until i drive it! LOLOL
 
You're not a true autogeek if you don't detail it when you have the opportunity!
