And yet, no one seems to care that Armor All, Meguiar's and Turtle Wax all call their ceramic lines "Hybrid Ceramic". Shouldn't they all be submitting lawsuits to one another?

Or what about Mother's California Gold vs Meguiar's Gold Class lines?

I swear people look for reasons to be annoyed for the sake of being annoyed.

Hybrid isn’t just a word, it’s an actual thing.
As far as who used the word Gold 1st, I dunno, but somebody certainly copied the other. I wouldn’t doubt if it was Mothers since they’ve got a history of copying Meguiars.

They almost look like they’re trolling with this name. Lol

I mean cermic hybrid in itself. Putting 3-5% of sio2,doesn’t make it a hybrid. Let alone a “coating”

Yes it does. A hybrid is a combination of 2 different things.

Hybrid Vigor: Definition, Causes, Effects And Examples

A hybrid is something made by combining two different things, often resulting in a blend or mixture. It can refer to organisms, vehicles, or even concepts where distinct elements are integrated.

Yeah I know what the word hybrid means. Most chemicals are combination of many different things so in your thinking most chemicals are hybrid.

In your basic definition (which is not wrong) Basically a cheeseburger is a hybrid. A wheel is a hybrid of a rim and tire.

Anything that has 2 things is a hybrid.

They are using it for marketing terms because the words coating and hybrid are big in the marketing world.

Not exactly. As far as a rim and a tire, them together don’t make a wheel, a wheel is a wheel without a tire, and a rim is the outer rim or ring on some wheels, at least that’s my understanding off the top of my head.

I honestly don’t think they’re using the words coating & hybrid as hype in the same way brands used the word “polymer” once upon a time.

I think they’re simply using the word hybrid because they’re claiming it’s a “ceramic wax”, and therefore it really is a blend of 2 things.

I could be wrong about polymer and for all I know it actually made sense for that word to have been so popular, iirc the word simply means alot of something, or some meaning like that? Lol.

In general for marketing hybrid is a buzz word. Things have been a mix of 2 things for ever. Just now in past 1 years it’s used to describe everything.

Take for instance dogs. When I was young 2 different breeds of dogs had a puppy it was a mutt. You’d get them for free out the papers. Now people are calling them hybrids or designer and charging an arm and leg… just use a buzz word and sell it….

When I worked at Les Schwab in my youth we called the “wheels” rims specifically the after market aluminum ones but I don’t know if that’s the technical term but it’s what we did and I have since back them called them rim and tires made a wheel package.

Oh, don't get me started on that! :ROFLMAO:

Imagine how many Turtle Wax customers out there that have put one of the alphabet-soup products on their car and think it's "ceramic coated". Sure thing buddy. ;)
I think their larger issue is finding a large enough kiln to cure the ceramic after they've applied it to the vehicle. :sneaky:
