Okay, i have to ask. How do you work on so many Chevys? To be more exact, camaros ? Coincidence ?

As always a great documentation of excellent work. That car was definitely hammered!

Never tried that combo w/the Flex...honestly i think i'll be selling it soon...like i mentioned earlier i bought myself a Rupes from mr buffdaddy (Kevin Brown) and hopefully it will become my new work horse.

I prefer the rotary buffer but now use a DA 90% of the time. Really got spoiled using the 14-2. I've been hooked on the 3401. The Rupes is about the only polisher I haven't used yet but have heard some good things about it. Hope it works out for you. Don't know why so many are afraid of the rotary buffer. RB, foam pad, M101 it doesn't get much better for compounding then M205 for polishing switching to a DA for the final couple passes.

Like I said these days I pretty much turn to the Flex 3401 for everything. Most the cars I do do not need heavy compounding so the DA with foam works out fine. One can never have enough polishers!

Just kinda happened really. Got one Camaro about 1 1/2 years ago...it was a SS Lingenfelter....black...and we made it glow...he spoke well about us and since Camaro owners travel in packs (kinda like Vette owners lol), the word spread and eventually we got another one...then another...we've done over a dozen Camaros and Vettes since that time.

Now it seems to be Audi's are calling. Did an S4 3 weeks back, since then we've had calls for 2 other S4's and an S5 lol.

Thank you, and yes it was...but no more :)

I just kinda lost my taste for the Flex..for starters..out here in Az...that mofo gets hot FAST...got tired of burning my hand. Also...it turns the opposite direction of DA's...so if im refining the paint the opposite way from which i cut it...sometime's it leaves light marring i have to go back over.

Tried out the Rupes 15mm yesterday...Kevin Brown was kind enough to send it to us to see if we like it first and if not then we could just send it back! Awesome guy for real. Well...we like it lol...so I'm getting it as well as the 21mm and the 5" backing plate he sells for the 21mm. His knowledge and his customer service are top of the line for sure and I feel good buying from the man who's responsible for introducing the Rupes to the U.S. Everyone else is piggy backing off of his innovation...for me...i feels rewarding his hard work by purchasing from him :dblthumb2:

I definitely need to get the Rupes as well. It's on my wish list. How do I get in touch with him Willis?

Amazing work. Amazing photos. Amazing write up! This really illustrates the amount of work that goes into this type of job and do it right. Thanks for taking the time to share this! GREAT JOB!! :props:

Your right about that, camaro owner love the group things.
That's awesome that your work is being talked about among those groups. Congrats !

Loyality is a great charcter trait, ranks high in my book. Thats cool Kevin took care of you. Like I said the Rupes has had a lot of press lately. Some of it hype because it's a new buffer, same thing happened to the Flex. I haven't noticed a heat issue with the Flex but I just got it in December so it's bassically new. I stayed away from the early models to give them time to make adjustments in the manufacturing process. I don't even notice the left rotation when working with it. I prefer wool and foam for detailing vs the mf system. RBs and Flex 3401 have no shortage of power.

I do like some nice features about the Rupes. I expect they will ramp up the power in the next generation and that will capture my interest. IMO incraseing the power, reducing the weight and bulk would make it a perfect DA. As it stands it appears to be pretty good because many like it. I'll be looking for your next detail using the Rupes!

I just contacted him through his website, buffdaddy.com or called him 805-478-1658. Very cool guy to talk to and has really done his homework on this machine. I'll be getting my 21mm this week along with the bag and 5" backing plate..super pumped :dblthumb2:

Thank you, thank you and thank you! No joke its a ton of work lol. Just dropped 2 days on an 07' Vette this weekend that made this Camaro look like a dreamcicle lol. Granted we did the interior and engine as well but...man not only was it swirled to death it was FILTHY...and black to boot lol.

Your right about that, camaro owner love the group things.

Yeah car clubs really have helped us a lot...we try to do right by them and in return...a lot of them do right by us. Lots of repeat business and many referrals have helped us to build our name...and we're still trying to do more, get better and branch out even further :)

You know sometimes I wonder what guys like Kevin would be like if you talked to them...if they'd just try to sell you on their new stuff or just brush you off if you only asked questions but never ordered....well, i spoke with hiim on and off for months before i ever ordered anything...first time i talked with him on the phone he spoke to me almost an hour just giving me tons of info on technique tips to help advance our results with mf pads and a DA...that we did NOT buy from him. I just spoke with him again a couple weeks back on the phone for almost another hour...he was just giving me tips on sanding techniques this time...it was AFTER all that...that i finally made my order....he's the real deal...awesome guy.

I don't have my 21mm yet but...the 15 is extremely comfortable....i too was worried about the power...but i found out quickly after using it that the weight balance has a TON to do with its effectiveness and usability. It is THE most balanced machine ive used...and ive used several. Its kind of like cars...sure some might have more HP than others, but that doesn't always mean its the fastest...weight balance has a ton to do with it. Then factor in the washer Kevin sends with it...which helps increase the rotation rate of the backing plate...and you're talking about a seriously smooth, comfortable and powerful machine.

We used it this weekend (the 15mm) on the black Vette i mentioned above...my sister mostly used it since we planned to use the 15mm for polishing and the 21 for cutting. The first couple of sections it was a little weird for her because she and I both were so use to compensating for either the heavy head or heavy back end of other polishers...this one just sat there and was like ok...lets go. Much less fatiguing especially on vertical panels.

Once you get your pad flat...its a breeze. And with feathers like slow start trigger (like the Makita), trigger lock (like the Flex) and the speed adjusting dial right there at your thumb...its awesome. Also the backing plate was well thought out...it has several holes in it which help to keep your pad cool (which helps avoid separation issues in hotter months)...i even like that it has a place for the allen wrench..it slides in and locks right onto the machine so no having to keep track of it :).

Nice work...

I for one know how much time goes into creating a write-up like this and it's a LOT of time.

So thank you for taking the time to put the polisher down and/or any other tools to take pictures and document the before, process and after pictures.

A picture tells a thousand words and your pictures along with your write up will inspire many into the future to follow your path to success.

What can I say but incredibly nice work, great pictures and excellent write-up!
