Cyclo or Porter Cable?

I
Check the difference out between the top half of this truck and the bottom half. I used Poorboy's World Pro Polish and the Flex with PFW.

Was the white section your test spot? (just kidding).

PFW and Pro Polish -- that is an interesting combination but I have never used a PFW pad.

here's a video from a member on here, but with the GG6...

It's very clear to see that that GG ROP has a lot more power than the G110V2. I have seen so many threads where this machine has vibrated apart that I was afraid to buy it especially when I heard that GG offers no spare parts inventory for it. Yes they will replace it but I would say if you are relying on a machine for your livelihood don't choose a machine that is known for flying apart unless you have a few backup units.

I am the kind of guy who would buy one of these, completely disassemble it and apply Loctite to every fastener on or in the machine. I would assume however that that would void the warranty but I may be wrong here.

anything man made is subject to being defective at anytime, and for example a few people have had the shaft on the PCXP 7424 break off, and the G110v2 cords have been bad on some units. It Happens. one thing about griots is they have good customer service, and on the back of their receipts they make returns as easy as could be, or if you buy it from AG they will take care of you as well...

I have seen the excellent customer care regarding these types of returns. Not knocking the machine so much as just saying If I had to rely on it to put food on my table I would want a back up and expect to return it for warranty from time to time.

I like the Idea of a lifetime warranty and I will own a GG ROP once things get back up to speed here financially. It won't be an issue for me because I do have backup machines.

i have the G100 (same thing as the PC7424) with a lifetime warranty from megs and i use it primarily with 4" pads, and it serves as my back-up as well. all the more reason to have two DA's where as one will be used with 4" pads and the other with 5"-6.5" pads. hope things pick up for you dave, and you are financially where you want to be. btw.. congrats on the contest win over at PAC... :props:

Oh yeah I saw a little window pop up a little while ago about shipping tracking no. I guess that means my One Pad System is on it's way. Maybe I can offer a 50% 0ff deal for a test car to try it out on and get a few people looking my way locally. Thanks for the kind words BigAl3...:dblthumb2:

I managed to pick up a Porter Cable XP not long ago. I found that with a soft pad and set on about 3 it spreads wax very well, which is what I believe you were looking to do anyway.

But it will get wild if you need it to. With the heaviest cutting pad and machine compound I could find, I decided to test it on my old red Integra. I knew it was a bad choice, but its old and I don't really care about the paint on it anymore. I wanted to see how mean the Porter Cable could be, and so I found out. With almost no pressure it cleaned off of a edge down to primer. The paint was already getting thin there, but did show me the power it has with little effort.

So back to my point, the Porter Cable applies wax with no problem all the way to "80 grit sand paper" with the right combo of pads and chemicals you can accomplish almost anything with ease. Do know, I have not tired the other 6' DA polishers so my knowledge is somewhat limited, they may work much better, but for the price I will not complain. It does all I ask it to.

Id like to play with the new Cyclo with speed adjustibility.

Something I left out that may matter here...I own a busy detail shop. We do about 4-5 vehicles a day all spring, summer, and fall. So, with that in mind. NOW, what do you guys think would best suit me. I don't want something that I can't use on a few vehicles every day.

Power, reliability, and longevity are probably my biggest concerns. I don't want junk. The Griots looks solid to me, and that 3" polisher would be a good companion for it. The meguiars looks a little cheap in my opinion. The Porter just seems dated. I'm gonna get the newer model Cyclo regardless. So I think I may be going with the Griots...

don't know if AG covers this but if you order it from griots, you have 180 days to use it and if you don't like or care for it, you can return it for a full refund or credit...

At Griot's Garage, we want you as a customer for life. Everything you purchase from us comes with a lifetime guarantee against defect. We want you to enjoy our quality products for 180 days and have fun with them! If you don't like it for any reason during this time, return it for a full refund or credit. After that, you're covered with our lifetime guarantee against defect, in which we will either repair it, replace it, or credit your purchase price if we are able to do neither. Some items have a life span during normal use and they wear out. Our warranty does not include replacement of such items after normal use. Of course our guarantee doesn't cover abuse... But you already knew that. Customers for life. That's our guarantee.
