I detailed this car for the first time in September last year and as you will see if you read the write up, it was more of a 'tidy up' kind of detail than a full blown correction detail - cleaning up the previous "detailer's" sloppy work. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/71133-daytona-grey-audi-rs3-detailed-lawrence.html

Well the car has since changed owners but before the new owner received it, the previous owner sent it back to the place he sent it to before sending it to me to "fix" in the first place - gotta wonder about some people's thought processes  So I spent the last weekend cleaning it up, again

Here is what it looked like early on Thursday morning.

Not bad in this light and from this distance.

But get a little closer and the sloppiness becomes apparent

Not even the PPF was spared

The car had some surface dirt too

And some bug splatter

And some deep scratches

All of this sticker residue needed to come off
IMG_6131_zps67fb0d56.jpg

The exhaust tips needed some love

As did the wheels
IMG_6072_zpsd9dca0e5.jpg

Which is exactly where I started.... as always....

Arches: Cyclo APC / Mothers Fender Well Brush / HP Rinse / Glossworx - Extreme Tyre Shine (This is a definite winner in my books so far. A little goes a long way and the spray pattern of the bottle it comes in assists here. Its priced really well at R108/500ml and it left the arches looking good.)

Tires: Meguiars All Wheel and Tire Cleaner / Mothers Tire Brush / Optimum Optibond Tire Gel (For me personally, I prefer the more satin look Optibond gives over the shiner look of the Glossworx Extreme Tyre Shine, but tire dressing is always going to be personal thing anyway)

Wheels: Glossworx Wheel Cleaner (still liking it  )/ Daytona Jnr / Various brushes/ Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover / APC rinse / AF Iron Out / Daytona Jnr / HP Rinse / Flooding Rinse / Menzerna Powerlock

Some pics

Decontamination

Clean
IMG_6208_zpsd7b945d7.jpg

I then washed and dried the car

Door shuts, window rubbers, fuel flap, badges: Cyclo APC / Various Brushes / HP Rinse / Collinite 845 / Chemical Guys Pete'53
Wash: Chemical Guys Maxisuds II via foam cannon / Glossworx Shampoo (at R69/500ml it is priced well and seems to be working, but I need to do a maintenance wash on my own car to tell for sure) / 2BM with Lambswool wash mitt
Dry: ONR at QD strength / WW Drying towel / Compressed Air

And decontaminated it

Tar removal : Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover
Iron removal : Autofinesse Iron Out
Remaining Contaminants : Autoglym Fine Grade Clay / ONR at clay lube strength

Now you can start seeing the true condition of the paint, and what the (presumably) combination of a filler heavy polish combined with a glaze, was covering up

IMG_6326_zpsf0bf06bb.jpg

Glass : AF Iron Out / Autoglym Fine Grade Clay / ONR at clay lube strength / Autoglym Fast Glass / StreakFree Microfiber Glass Cleaning Cloth
Paint correction : Menzerna PF 2500 / Hydro-Tech 5.5 Inch Tangerine Ultra Polishing Foam Pad
Tail light and B-Pillar Correction: Menzerna PF 2500 / 4" Lake Country - CCS White Pad / Menzerna SF 4000 / 4" Lake Country - CCS Grey Finishing Pad
Protection : Collinite 845 / Pete's 53
Door rubbers, plastic trim : Shield Heavy Duty Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner / Smartwax Smart Dressing
Interior: Blown out with compressed air / Vacuum / dash and trim wiped down / Smartwax Smart Dressing
Leather: Cyclo CM30 @ 20:1 / Various brushes / Damp wipe down / Compressed Air dry / Glossworx Leather Conditioner.

Now here is how it looked on Sunday afternoon...

Very good work and awesome documentation. Write up and pics are great, thanks for taking your time sharing with us.

You really cleaned up the mess and finally gave the car the love it needed.

Keep doing the awesome job, mate!

Kind Regards.

Ha, you need to send that other detailer a holiday card!

Great job (again), I really love your photography work.

Outstanding work Lawrence! Love seeing your write ups!

Everything about that car is money! He needs the autobahn to stretch her legs!

Thanks. I love these cars too. The front end is just so right in my eyes.... reminds me of Darth Vader

Thanks - I have cleaned up quite a few of the previous detailers messes..... they are actually a very well established 'detailing' company that has been going for years, but obviously targets a different market and focuses predominantly on production type detailing.

Great work!! Love that color
Thanks. Yes the color is nice. Especially once it is polished up properly and the various colors in the metallic flakes start popping through

Thanks Mike.

Oh how we would love an Autobhan over here. Speed limits are a maximum of 120km/hr. Not much opportunity to take advantage of what lies beneath the hood.
